Vail Resorts, Inc. today announced an epic partnership with the largest ski area in the world, Les 3 Vallées, home to the legendary mountain resorts of Courchevel, La Tania, Méribel, Brides-les-Bains, Les Menuires, Saint Martin de Belleville, Val Thorens and Orelle, France. Heavenly Mountain Resort has submitted a proposal to the USDA Forest Service and Tahoe Regional Planning Agency for expansions to its on-mountain summer activities, as part of Vail Resorts’ Epic Discovery, a Summer Mountain Adventure. Vail Resorts has proposed Epic Discovery at just three of its mountain resorts: Vail Mountain, Breckenridge Ski Resort and now Heavenly. The three proposals are the first of their kind following the 2011 passage of the Ski Area Recreational Opportunities Enhancement Act.

Vail Resorts today announced the appointment of Rick Cables to vice president of natural resources and conservation of the company. In this new role, Cables will manage natural resource issues for the company, including land use, water and wildlife, and will work with the appropriate regulatory and government entities in this arena. Cables will also oversee Vail Resorts’ natural resource conservation efforts and provide leadership for the company’s environmental efforts. Cables will report to Beth Ganz, vice president of public affairs and sustainability for Vail Resorts.

Vail Resorts, Inc. announced today it has started construction of 543 acres of new terrain in the Peak 6 area ofBreckenridge Ski Resort. The Peak 6 project will include 400 acres of lift-served terrain and 143 acres of hike-to terrain. The Company expects to open the new terrain for the 2013-2014 ski season, including adding a new high-speed, six-person chairlift and a new fixed-grip chairlift to access the Peak 6 area.
