Keystone Resort Celebrates Independence Day with Mountains of Fun
KEYSTONE, Colo. — July 1, 2013 —As summer heats up across the country, Keystone Resort provides the perfect Holiday escape with cool mountain temperatures, plenty of outdoor activities and an array of Independence Day celebrations. The resort will be animated July 4 with Holiday activities including a children’s bike parade, fishing derby, barbecue, bike-in movie and spectacular lakeside fireworks display. But the excitement isn’t contained to just the 4th; the Resort will host a Campfire Social July 3, Kids Theater and Friday Afternoon Club with the Luv Brothers on July 5 and the Big Mountain Enduro mountain bike event July 6-7. With plenty of daily activities including hiking and biking, golf, stand-up paddle boarding and miniature golf, a Keystone vacation can stretch for days with plenty of outdoor recreation, a vibrant Village and fantastic dining options.

Fourth of July Ignites at Keystone Resort
America’s Birthday celebration will kick-off at Keystone’s Lakeside Village with the annual fishing derby. Children 13 and younger are invited to try their hand at fishing in Keystone’s gorgeous five-acre lake, while the rest of the family can enjoy an entertaining morning of cheering on the participants in this free activity. Following the fun at the lake the Children’s Bike Parade, a Keystone tradition, will take place in River Run Village. Kids of all ages will be provided with a complimentary bike decorating kit before taking off for a lap around the Village. Parents and guests can line the parade route cheering and enjoying the festive Holiday merriment.
 
The 4th of July wouldn’t be complete without a barbecue, and the Edgewater Grill will do all the work, letting Keystone guests relax and enjoy the mouthwatering goods while taking in the views of Lakeside Village. The grill will be fired up from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, giving guests the chance to grab some delicious grub before pedaling over to Keystone’s bike-in movie.
 
The summer classic The Sandlot will begin at 6:15 p.m. in Lakeside Village, a perfect way to end a great day in the Colorado sunshine. The movie is free, and refreshments will be available on-site. Guests are also invited to participate in the pre-movie bike ride around the Lake; bikes are available for rent at the Keystone Adventure Center.
 
The night will conclude with a fireworks display over Keystone Lake. The fireworks show will take place at 9:00 p.m. and is weather dependent.
 
Campfire Social, July 3
Before the fun on the Fourth, swing by Keystone Stables for a weekly guest welcome reception, hosted fireside. Guests are invited to this free activity, with hot dogs and s’mores available for purchase on-site, which includes a tour of the gorgeous Keystone Stables, the perfect spot to soak in a Colorado sunset. The Saloon will also be open throughout the event offering delicious beverages for children and adults alike. The fun begins at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Free transportation to the Stables is available via Keystone’s convenient in-resort transportation system.
 
Kidtopia Kids Theater and Friday Afternoon Club, July 5
The Holiday amusement at Keystone continues Friday, July 5 with the Kidtopia Kids Theater’s weekly performance of Golden. Two shows, 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., are hosted every Friday in the quaint Quaking Aspen Amphitheater in River Run Village. Kids of all ages will adore this high-energy twist on the classic Goldilocks and the Three Bears storyline. Named "Best Colorado Theatre West of Denver" by the Colorado Theatre Guild and "One of Colorado's Top Ten Theatres Outside Denver" by the Denver Post, the Lake Dillon Theatre brings a high-quality, high-altitude musical performance not to be missed. Tickets are free to guests lodging with Keystone hospitality.
 
Whether you spend the morning at the theater, or snow tubing in July, the place to be for Happy Hour is atop Dercum Mountain for Keystone’s weekly Friday Afternoon Club. Scenic gondola rides to the mountaintop are free after 3:00 p.m. and guests will enjoy a variety of lawn games including ladder ball, corn hole and slack lining on the Dercum Summit. A full bar is available as is the Summit House’s delicious barbecue from the Overlook Grill. Free live music begins at 4:00 p.m. with local favorites the Luv Brothers rocking the stage.
 
Big Mountain Enduro, July 6-7
For those looking to really kick their Holiday Weekend into high gear, Keystone will host the third stop on the Big Mountain Enduro (BME) summer tour, Saturday and Sunday July 6 and 7. This pro-level race is sold out, but guests can enjoy great spectator vantage points across the mountain, as participants tackle grueling uphill climbs and white-knuckle descents.
 
Please note, the Keystone Bike Park will be closed until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 6 for race activity. The Park will reopen 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with FREE bike park access for all guests. Bike rentals will also be available at a 50% discount at Keystone Sports in River Run Village. The Bike Park will be closed all day on Sunday, July 7 for the BME event. Keystone apologizes for any inconvenience.
