SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. – May 11, 2017 – New this season at Epic Discovery, the 4,159-foot Silver Rush Zip Line flies guests from tree to tree at speeds up to 40 miles per hour. Overlooking the high desert of the Carson Valley, Silver Rush is comprised of five segmented zip lines; the final of which flies guests over the waters of East Peak Lake. Guests enjoy a scenic ATV ride back to the top of the Gondola. The three-hour long, intimate experience is Heavenly Mountain Resort’s signature activity debuting at Epic Discovery this summer.
“We are excited to be in our second season of operation with Epic Discovery,” said Pete Sonntag, Tahoe region senior vice president and chief operating officer for Heavenly Mountain Resort. “The Silver Rush Zip Line is going to make an incredible addition to our summer activities and we are looking forward to another great summer season.”
Epic Discovery gives guests the chance to immerse themselves in activities that provide big-time thrills while enjoying some of the world’s most awe-inspiring scenery of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding Sierra Nevada peaks. Guests are invited to challenge themselves physically, explore, ‘learn through play’ amidst Heavenly’s unique mountain environment, and ultimately, create lifelong memories.
With activities ranging from the Ridge Rider Mountain Coaster, multiple zip lines and ropes courses, to rock climbing, hiking and educational components, there is interactive outdoor activity for all ages and ability levels at Epic Discovery.
Offered at Heavenly Mountain Resort and Vail Mountain, and debuting this summer at Breckenridge, Vail Resorts’ Epic Discovery experiences represent leading innovations for summer recreation in the mountains, and collaborative partnership with the U.S. Forest Service through the Ski Area Recreational Opportunity Enhancement Act. “We wanted to partner with the U.S. Forest Service to create an experience that’s truly unique,” added Hans Vollrath, senior director of summer business for Vail Resorts. “Epic Discovery offers guests an authentic connection to Heavenly’s beautiful mountain environment by balancing fun, experiential activities and education.”
Epic Discovery will complement the eco-discovery experiences across the mountain with educational content. Subsequently, Vail Resorts will utilize its new “1% For The Forest” program to contribute one percent of all summer lift ticket and activity revenue to The Nature Conservancy, a leading non-profit conservation organization, for forest restoration projects on national forest lands.
