 BROOMFIELD, Colo. — Oct. 5, 2016 — It’s officially fall, and the whispers of winter grow louder. The mountains are calling, and due to their proximity, Colorado kids hear that call louder than others. Providing 16 days of free access to Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone, Epic SchoolKids gives kids across the Centennial State the opportunity to enjoy the snow sports that define being a Coloradan. The Epic SchoolKids Colorado Pack does not require any purchases and also includes one free first-timer ski or snowboard lesson with free equipment rental. Registration is only available through Sunday, Oct. 9, and can be done in-person at Colorado Ski & Golf, Colorado Ski & Sport and Boulder Ski Deals locations throughout the Front Range. This is the last chance for Colorado elementary school kids to gain access to Colorado’s four premier ski resorts for free during the 2016-2017 season.

“Living in Colorado provides kids a variety of ways to enjoy outdoor recreation, but skiing and snowboarding is synonymous with Colorado,” said Kirsten Lynch, chief marketing officer of Vail Resorts. “We are dedicated to giving kids the opportunity to experience skiing and riding by providing free access through the Epic SchoolKids program. Last season, more than 30,000 Colorado children took advantage of Epic SchoolKids, and we hope to encourage even more families to give skiing or snowboarding a try this season.”

Epic SchoolKids is available to all Colorado kindergarteners through fifth graders, with free first-timer lessons offered in December or January, allowing those new to the sport the opportunity to continue to take advantage of their pass for the remainder of the season. Introduced for the 2015-2016 season, Epic SchoolKids is Vail Resorts’ way of giving back to the local community, while ensuring future generations have access to the sports of skiing and snowboarding.

Additionally, families can save money on ski and snowboard gear with the Junior Trade-In Program at Colorado Ski & Golf and Boulder Ski Deals locations. Families can purchase new or used equipment for kids and then turn the gear in when the kids outgrow it and receive 50 percent off the purchase price towards the following year’s equipment.

Epic SchoolKids is having a positive impact on Colorado families. “I am so thankful for Epic SchoolKids,” said Anita Gulati from Denver. “I had hip surgery this year and my two children were able to ski with their cousin who has an Epic Local Pass! Thank you, Vail Resorts, for making this pass available for my kids!”
