PARK CITY, Utah — Monday, September 28, 2026 — Vail Resorts today announced its capital plans for major lift improvements at Park City Mountain, targeted for completion ahead of the 2027/28 season. The Company will replace the Silverlode lift with the first eight-passenger detachable chairlift in Vail Resorts’ U.S. network. It also plans to replace the Eagle and Eaglet lifts with a new six-passenger detachable chairlift and complete a full retrofit of the Crescent lift.

The projects are the next step in Vail Resorts’ multi-year transformation of the guest experience at Park City Mountain. The upgraded lifts will support a faster and more intuitive experience out of the Mountain Village base area as well as better circulation and more effective guest distribution across key on-mountain connection points. These investments follow the new Sunrise Gondola installed last season, and the new Skyway Gondola being installed for this season, at the resort.

“For more than a decade, we’ve invested in nearly every part of a guest’s day, from where they learn to where they dine, to how their day begins and ends,” said Deirdra Walsh, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Park City Mountain. “While bringing the Silverlode and Eagle lifts to life has taken time, patience, and partnership with our community, we're proud to deliver these upgrades for locals and guests alike.”

The new Silverlode chairlift, Vail Resorts’ first eight-passenger lift in the United States, will improve circulation and reliability at one of the mountain’s most important crossroads. At the Mountain Village base area, a new single six-passenger detachable chairlift will replace the existing Eagle and Eaglet fixed-grip lifts. A revised alignment and a new mid-station unload will move guests out of the base area and onto the slopes significantly faster, spread traffic more evenly across the mountain, and give newer skiers and snowboarders an easier path to progression.

The full retrofit of the Crescent lift will further strengthen reliability at one of Park City Mountain’s most important Mountain Village lifts by helping to reduce downtime during the season. Together with the planned Silverlode and Eagle upgrades, the Crescent retrofit will improve the guest experience and better connect Mountain Village to the resort’s more than 7,300 acres of skiing and riding.

“Each of these new projects gives our guests more time on snow and improved access to the largest ski resort in the United States,” said Walsh. “They complement our Epic Experience investment, which is raising the standard across every part of a visit to Park City Mountain, from better food to more connected lessons to improved gear.”

These upgrades build on more than a decade of investment in the guest experience. By the end of 2026, Vail Resorts will have invested more than $200 million in strategic on-mountain enhancements since acquiring Park City Mountain in 2014, with the new lift upgrades representing additional capital beyond that amount. This included new lifts, expanded on-mountain dining, and significant snowmaking improvements across key areas of the mountain immediately following acquisition.

More recently, Vail Resorts has continued that transformation with a focus on arrival, access, learning, reliability, on-mountain amenities, and employee housing, including:

  • For the 2026/27 season, guests will enjoy a new arrival experience at Canyons Village, anchored by the 10-person Canyons Village Skyway Gondola, the second new gondola to debut in as many winters, and the new Canyons Village parking garage, creating a more seamless journey from arrival to the slopes.

  • The Sunrise Gondola, which opened for the 2025/26 season and improved uphill flow by 45%.

  • Replacement of the Red Pine Gondola cabins, improving reliability and base area access.

  • Major snowmaking upgrades in Canyons Village, expanding early-season terrain and improving conditions across the resort.

  • A new, connected ski and ride school experience as well as beginner ski and ride zones at both base areas, giving new skiers and snowboarders dedicated space to learn.

  • Terrain park enhancements, including the return of a 22-foot halfpipe.

  • Enhancements to on-mountain restaurants, skier services, and employee housing.

Park City Mountain recently announced its new Larger Than Life™ campaign. Featuring Olympic snowboarder Shaun White and inspired by the scale, history and energy of the largest ski resort in the United States, the new brand platform captures the spirit of Park City Mountain while reflecting the resort’s continued investment in the guest experience and its bold vision for its next chapter.

Additional details on construction timelines and opening dates will be shared in the coming months. Epic Passes are on sale for the 2026/27 season, including 20% off for guests ages 13-30.
