Our Mid-Atlantic ski resorts are within driving distance of Baltimore, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia, making them an excellent destination for first-timers. Dedicated beginner slopes, ski schools with experienced instructors, and a variety of terrain help those new to the slopes build confidence and skills for their next skiing journey.

Epic for Everyone – Youth Access and Growing the Sport

The future of winter sports is inclusion. Through investments and partnerships, Vail Resorts is committed to ensuring that all feel welcome, invited, and included. Our Epic for Everyone youth access programs serve more than 11,000 youth annually who may not have had access to the sport. Our programs provide free on-snow sessions including lessons, meals, rentals, mentorship, an introduction to careers in snowsports, and more. This winter, several of our Mid-Atlantic region resorts will be hosting non-profit organizations for a series of visits. More details to come!

Commitment to Zero

Vail Resorts is committed to achieving a zero net operating footprint by 2030- zero net emissions, zero waste to landfill, zero impact on forests and habitat.  Five years into the commitment Vail has reached 100% renewable electricity in North America, reduced waste sent to landfills by 29%, and planted more than 18,500 trees.

As part of our dedication to environmental sustainability, Roundtop Mountain Resort is participating in a composting project with a local farmer. Food scraps and other organic materials are transported to a local pig farm where it is used as feed, instead of ending up in a landfill. The composting project helps achieve waste reduction goals, while also supporting local agriculture and sustainable farming. Over the summer, Liberty Mountain Resort partnered with Ten Million Trees to plant over 100 trees across the resort.  In the Fall, Liberty partnered with Ten Million Tress and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to give away 1,000 free trees to the local community.

The Art and Science of Snowmaking

Ski resorts have been making snow for decades and have become experts in learning how to work with Mother Nature to enhance (and often extend!) the winter experience for our guests. Snowmaking combines art and science, utilizing technology, weather conditions, and a team of dedicated snowmakers and groomers to create a winter wonderland.

On-Mountain Projects

This summer, investments were made to continue energy-efficient snowmaking at all three Eastern Pennsylvania resorts. Liberty installed a new snowmaking transformer, which will allow the system to be more productive. Roundtop added four new HKD Impulse snowmaking guns on Exhibition Slope, installed new snowmaking pipes, and made upgrades to the electrical infrastructure. Whitetail also installed new snowmaking pipes and added new LED energy-efficient lighting throughout the resort.  All three resorts installed upgraded live web cameras, so guests can enjoy a better view of the resorts between visits.

Your Pass, Now On Your Phone with the new My Epic app

New this season, the My Epic app with Mobile Pass and Mobile Lift Tickets is now available to download, allowing guests to use their phone as their ticket to the slopes.

Mobile Pass and Mobile Lift Tickets is a hands-free option for skiers and riders to use at all 36 of Vail Resorts’ owned and operated U.S. resorts for the 2023/24 season, with availability at Whistler Blackcomb to follow in future seasons. It allows guests to buy their pass or lift ticket online, activate it in the new My Epic app, put their phone in their pocket, and get scanned, hands free in the lift line using Bluetooth® technology designed for low energy usage to minimize the impact on a phone’s battery life. This season, to ensure a smooth transition, the company will continue to provide physical cards for passes and lift tickets to all guests. For guests choosing to use Mobile Pass this season, watch this video for some tips.

The My Epic app also offers a range of guest-favorite features, including interactive trail maps with GPS location tracking, and mountain and resort alerts, including operational information like grooming updates, terrain status, snow reports and conditions.
