Last year, El Niño rewarded skiers and snowboarders with up to 450 inches of snow at Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood. Now La Niña is on its way with OnTheSnow.com predicting above average snowfall for the 2016-17 winter season. With the Tahoe Local Pass, skiers and snowboarders will have access to every powder day at Lake Tahoe’s best resorts.  As skiers and snowboarders plan their winter vacations, they’ll want to secure the guaranteed lowest price on Lake Tahoe’s most valuable season passes – the Tahoe Local and Tahoe Value passes - by Monday, Sept. 5.
 
In addition to 10,270 skiable acres of unmatched variety at Lake Tahoe, the Tahoe Local Pass offers access to the region’s finest resorts. The Best of Tahoe resorts represent the essence of Lake Tahoe’s most famed characteristics – Heavenly’s unrelenting, high-energy atmosphere and unmatched views, Northstar’s relaxed California luxury ambiance, and Kirkwood’s bounty of authentic, big-mountain terrain and prodigious natural snowfall. Adding more value, the Tahoe Local Pass also includes five total days of non-holiday skiing and snowboarding at Colorado’s Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin, as well as Utah’s Park City, the largest ski resort in the U.S.

According to a recent statement issued by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), “La Niña is favored to develop during the Northern Hemisphere summer 2016, with about a 75 percent chance of producing La Niña storm patterns during the fall and winter 2016-2017.” The most recent strong La Niña storm system in the Northern Hemisphere was recorded in winter 2010-2011 and resulted in huge snowfall totals at Lake Tahoe with Kirkwood receiving 671 inches.
 
Vail Resorts 2016-2017 Season Pass Options for Lake Tahoe Skiers and Snowboarders
  • The Tahoe Local Pass™ is the best way to access Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood seven days a week. It includes Saturday access at all three Lake Tahoe resorts with limited holiday restrictions, all for $529 for adults, $419 for teens and $269 for children. The Tahoe Local Pass also now includes five days of non-holiday skiing and snowboarding at Utah’s Park City, the largest ski resort in the U.S., and Colorado’s Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin. Pass holder tickets are available for purchase at a discounted rate during blackout days at Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood. The Tahoe Local Pass pays for itself in just over four days. 
  •  The Tahoe Value Pass™ is best for people who can handle a few restrictions. Ski or snowboard seven days a week at Heavenly and six days a week at Northstar and Kirkwood. The pass is available at $449 for adults, $369 for teens and seniors and $219 for children (ages 5 to 12) and pays for itself in just over three days. The Tahoe Value Pass has holiday restrictions at Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood with Saturdays excluded at Northstar and Kirkwood. Pass holders can purchase discounted lift tickets valid at Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood Resorts on restricted days.  
  • The Epic Pass™ allows pass holders to ski as much as they want, whenever they want for $809 for adults and $419 for children (ages 5 to 12.) The Epic Pass pays for itself in just over five days of skiing or riding. With more than 32,000 acres of skiing and snowboarding terrain, this pass is the best in the ski industry. Unlimited, unrestricted access to Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin in Colorado, Park City in Utah, Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood at Lake Tahoe, Perisher in Australia for the 2017 winter season, Afton Alps in Minnesota, Mt. Brighton in Michigan and Wilmot Mountain just outside of Chicago.

 Vail Resorts encourages guests to purchase pass insurance. All of the Company’s season pass products are non-refundable and non-transferrable; however, pass insurance covers pass holders in the event of unexpected circumstances including sickness, injury and job loss.
