Jim Kercher Hired as Director of Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard School

Beaver Creek, Colo.- June 24, 2009- John Garnsey, chief operating officer of Beaver Creek Resort today announced that Jim Kercher has been hired as the director of the Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard School. Kercher previously spent almost seven years leading the Ski and Snowboard School and Guest Services team before leaving in 2007 to pursue the role of general manager at Alpine Meadows in California.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jim back to the Beaver Creek team,” said John Garnsey, chief operating officer for Beaver Creek Resort. “Jim is a well respected leader who holds a wealth of knowledge not only of managing ski schools, but he also has great expertise in resort operations. He’s a passionate skier who will continue to further the reputation and experience of our Ski School.” 

Kercher will be responsible for overseeing all facets of operations for the adult and children’s ski and snowboard schools. From 2001-2007 he held the position as the Beaver Creek Ski School director and prior to that served as the vice president of resort services for Copper Mountain. No stranger to the Vail Resorts family, Kercher also held the position of ski and snowboard school director at Breckenridge Ski Resort in the early 1990s, he headed up the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Ski and Snowboard School during the mid-90s and returned to Breckenridge as the director of skier services from 1998-2000.  He has been a certified examiner for the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA).

“I’m very excited to return to Beaver Creek and reunite with such an incredible team,” said Jim Kercher.  “It’s one of the best resorts in the world that continually sets the standard for guest service.” Jim will begin his role at Beaver Creek in mid-July.
