Horseback Riding on Vail Mountain to Begin Friday, July 3
  • Daily guided horseback excursions, rides to Game Creek Restaurant and children’s pony rides available at Eagle’s Nest

VAIL, Colo. – July 2, 2009 – See Vail Mountain from a new angle this summer! Vail Mountain will offer scenic horseback trail rides through Game Creek Bowl and children’s pony rides at Eagle’s Nest beginning Friday, July 3.

Guided horseback rides begin at the Eagle’s Nest corral, located just below the top of the Pride Express Lift (Chair 26). Two guides will lead groups of up to eight guests westward across Vail Mountain and into Game Creek Bowl. The 40-minute tour ends at Eagle’s Nest and is available daily beginning at 10:30 a.m. for adults and children, ages 7 and up. Vail season pass holders can purchase the tour for $50. A $60 tour includes lift ticket for the Eagle Bahn Gondola for non-pass holders; a $70 tour includes a lift ticket and $15 lunch voucher valid at Bistro Fourteen or Talons Deck.

For those who wish to extend their stay in Game Creek Bowl, horseback rides after 4 p.m. will be offered for $30, ending at Game Creek Restaurant. There, guests can enjoy unparalleled views, a distinctive selection of executive chef K. David Clawson’s seasonal à la carte cuisine and an extensive wine and cocktail list. For $89 ($69 for children, ages 7-12), guests can partake in a horseback ride and four-course “Wrangler” dinner at Game Creek. Both Game Creek rides are one-way only and include return vehicle transportation to Eagle’s Nest. Gondola rides are free after 4 p.m.

For children ages 2-6, pony rides will be offered Friday through Sunday for $10. All pony rides will take place at Eagle’s Nest just east of the volleyball courts in a designated arena. For $25 children can enjoy a pony ride and their choice of two additional Adventure Ridge activities, including rebound trampoline, climbing wall or disc golf rental.
