Vail Resorts Launches Re-Imagined Epic Life Magazine
Vail Resorts, Inc. today unveiled its newly redesigned Epic Life Magazine for the 2013-2014 winter season, which features compelling feature stories and photography about the Company’s world-class resorts and the athletes, fashion, food and gear associated with the mountain lifestyle.
Two-time gold medalist and snowboarding legend Shaun White graces the cover and reveals a different side of himself in his quest for a three-peat in halfpipe in Sochi 2014, and his thoughts about and approach to the games as an underdog in its first-ever slopestyle competition.
“We hope our guests find inspiration on each page of the new Epic Life magazine and that the stories about and spectacular imagery of our iconic resorts and the mountain lifestyle excite them for the upcoming winter season,” said Kirsten Lynch, chief marketing officer of Vail Resorts.
The feature stories and articles are written by some of the most prolific ski and travel writers in the industry today who possess such prestigious credentials as the New York Times, Sunday London Times, Outside, Condé Nast Traveler, Forbes and USA Today. Epic Life is brought to life by brilliant photography that captures the unique personalities and iconic locations of each mountain resort as well as the people, food and other activities that make each destination so special. Lauded as American Photo’s “100 Most Important People in Photography,” Los Angeles-based photographer Art Streiber shot Shaun White for the cover story. Photographer Jody Horton, whose work has appeared in magazines such as Food & Wine, Bon Appetit and Esquire, captured the lively après-scene and food at Northstar in the Meze Fare feature. Acclaimed local snow sports photographers Jack Affleck, Nate Zeman, Chris Miller and Greg Von Doersten contribute their unique perspectives on skiing and riding at Vail Resorts’ eight mountain resorts, including an eight-page, eye-popping photo spread, “Epic Moments”.
The new Epic Life takes readers behind the scenes with gold medalist and four-time overall world champion skier Lindsey Vonn as she battles back from a devastating knee injury last season and her determination to come back stronger than ever before in “True Grit.” Readers also get a glimpse of other Vail Resorts-sponsored athletes to watch in Sochi. The Destinations section features recommendations on where to eat, stay, ski and ride and other diversions at each of Vail Resorts’ eight mountains, including the newest member of the family, Canyons in Park City, Utah.
