Combating Climate Change: Supporting Ambitious Climate Action
Share:

This week, Vail Resorts joined nearly 400 leading U.S. businesses urging Congress’ swift enactment of robust climate and clean energy investments in the bipartisan infrastructure and Build Back Better budget reconciliation packages. Why? We believe it is critical to support bold climate-smart investments that allow our country to reach the 50-52% emissions reductions goal President Biden pledged after re-entering the Paris Agreement.

For us at Vail Resorts, collective participation through involvement in groups including Ceres, the Outdoor Industry Business Climate Partnership, and RE100 is essential. We advocate at local and national levels for policies that fight climate change and work toward clean and renewable energy solutions. And, as a global mountain resort operator with 37 resorts in 15 states and three countries, the most measurable impact we can have on climate change is through our own operations. We’ve set an ambitious Commitment to Zero goal to reach a zero net operating footprint by 2030 and have made substantial progress.

Climate change is one of the most urgent issues facing not only the ski industry, but the world. Millions of Americans are already feeling its impacts and, with the window to address the climate crisis narrowing, there is no time to waste. Read the full letter to Congress here.
