Breckenridge Ski Resort Winter 2024 - 2025 Tip Sheet

Breckenridge Ski Resort, affectionately known as ‘Breck’ to locals and visitors alike, is one of the most popular resorts in the country, serving up big mountain views and high alpine terrain paired with vintage cool ski town charm. From its Five Peaks to Main Street, the entire town of Breck is practically ski-in, ski-out. Where else in the world can you ski from the top of North America’s highest chairlift and directly into town for après!? The answer: Nowhere!

Go With the Flow: 3 New Lifts in 3 Years

At Breck, we're always leveling up our game. With three new chairlifts over the last three years, you’ll be up high and on cloud 9 in no time, skiing and riding across our Five Peaks. Breck’s not getting any bigger but we’re always getting better, and you'll find something new to experience no matter how many times you come back for more (and more, and more). With the addition of the brand-new Freedom SuperChair in 2021 on Peak 7, followed by the upgraded Rip’s Ride in 2022 and Five Chair revamp in 2023 on Peak 8, we’ve focused on improving the experience across our most popular peaks and access points to the resort, meaning we all get to enjoy more time doing what we we’re here for, skiing and riding.

Keepin’ it Clean and Green

Breck might be all about the fun but we’ve got a responsible side, too. Enter Commitment to Zero, Vail Resorts’ goal to reach a zero net operating footprint by 2030. In line with this bold company goal, at Breck we work together with our communities, our employees, and our guests to reduce our environmental impact, be good stewards of our public lands, and preserve our pristine peaks for future generations to come. This looks like a lot of different things from new initiatives in our operations to local partnerships to efforts to help educate our guests. For example, did you know it’s easy to go car-free when visiting Breck? From shuttle services between the resort and airport and a robust free local bus system, to the BreckConnect Gondola, ski-to-town trails and a walkable downtown, it is easy to leave the car at home. On mountain, we have taken the initiative to go plastic-free at many of our food and beverage outlets, replacing plastic products with aluminum ones and using durable and reusable tumblers, plateware and silverware. In addition, we take the waste sorting out of your hands – literally. Our mountain dining team is dedicated to sorting every tray and piece of trash in our outlets to ensure trash, recycling, and compost are sorted correctly and efficiently to reduce waste. New this year, we have invested in more than 20 custom-built waste sorting stations for our on-mountain dining locations to help our teams sort waste more efficiently. They are ergonomically designed for a better employee experience and built with stainless steel for longevity. That’s just the tip of the mountain peak though, and you can learn more about our Commitment to Zero and Progress here. Caring is cool, and we care about keeping it clean and green.

First Chair to Last Call

From first chair to last call. From our Five Peaks to Main Street. From deep powder days to skiing into May. Breck has a magnetic energy, charisma and charm. With a sense of adventure and spirit of community only found in a close-knit mountain town, Breck’s got a unique, laid-back and welcoming feel that’s the perfect marriage of big mountain fun and cozy historic ski town. There’s nothing quite like that first-chair feeling here: up early, sipping coffee, heading to the mountain with your friends on a powder day anticipating sweet, sweet freshies. Or, maybe you’re imagining the one-of-a-kind feeling of wrapping up a perfect day on the slopes and heading into town to cheers to powder turns, big drops, and smooth moves in the high alpine. Well, we’re here to ask the important question: why not both?

Big Breck Energy pulses across the Five Peaks and keeps you going from first chair to last call – and then to catch a good night’s sleep before running it back and doing it all over again tomorrow. All gas, no brakes, and tons of fun. And, the party continues into May with spring vibes, powder days (yes, even in May), skiing and riding in costumes and jorts, and of course, sunny day après. Did someone say dance party?!

Ski-In, Ski-Out, Ski-Everywhere-You-Want-to-Go
Breck’s Five Peaks beckon as you make your way into town and it’s impossible to resist getting up and out for some winter exploration. The whole town is practically ski-in, ski-out with plenty of lodging options within walking distance to Main Street and to the FREE BreckConnect Gondola, easily connecting you and your crew to the Peak 7 and Peak 8 base areas. Peak 9’s base area is conveniently located right on the south end of Main Street so you can hop on a chairlift right after your breakfast burrito stop. Our favorite in-town and on-slope locations include: Gravity Haus – cool and hip with easy access to the base of Peak 9 and Main Street; One Ski Hill Place – level up your lodging with true ski-in, ski-out luxury access on Peak 8; Mountain Thunder Lodge – the beauty of feeling tucked away in the woods while still being close to it all with ski-in, gondola-out access.

Staying farther out? No worries. The Breck Free Ride bus system in conjunction with the county-wide Summit Stage bus system gives you a free, quick, and easy route straight to your ski day. Once you’ve had your fill of fun on snow, head back to your base area accommodations or ski all the way into town on one of our ski-trail connectors. Whether you’re ready to belly up to the bar, head to your hotel for a hot cocoa by the fire, or back to one of our parking areas, the best way to get there is to ski or ride. Enjoy Breck without a vehicle and skip the hassle of navigating mountain roads while being more environmentally friendly. We love a win-win.

Five Peaks that'll Get You High – Like, Nearly 13,000 Feet Above Sea-Level High

Breck is big. We're talking Five (mountain) Peaks and nearly 3,000 acres big. Breck offers 35 lifts across Peaks 6 through 10, running north to south within Colorado’s distinct Tenmile Range (Fun Fact: the northern-most peak in the Tenmile Range starts with Peak 1 in the neighboring Town of Frisco and spans through the ski resort to the southern-most peak, Quandary, which is one of Colorado’s famous 14ers). In winter, Breck’s Five Peaks are home to more than 180 trails for skiing and riding, and some of the most accessible high alpine terrain in the country. Don’t know where to start? We’ve got you! Check out our blog to discover which peak fits your personality and this page to learn more about how to navigate and progress across our Five Peaks.

If you’re ready to skip the small talk and head straight for the big stuff, you’re in the right place. Pioneered by locals and skied by legends, Breck’s High Alpine is untamed and wild. From technical rocky chutes in the Six Senses to no-fall zones in the Lake Chutes, get extreme with our blog that’ll let you in on the steepest stuff we’ve got. If all this has you in an elevated state of mind, talk to our pros in Ski & Ride School and get your guide to secret stashes and fresh lines that are hard to find without local beta.

Go Breck or Go Home

We love a great day on the mountain (obvi), but there’s plenty to bring you to Breck off the slopes, too. Come for the powder and stay awhile to join in our great community events. In December, the town plays host to the annual Running of the Santas and holiday tree lighting in the heart of town on Main Street, as well as the signature wild and wacky Ullr Fest – where we celebrate the winter season with a parade, the world’s longest shot ski, and a giant bonfire to shout our praises to Ullr (the Norse God of Snow). In January, artists from around the world head to Breck to compete in the International Snow Sculptures Championships with larger-than-life snow sculptures on display from conception to completion. For more on these funky and fun celebrations, check in with our friends at GoBreck for more info.
