American Cancer Society Announces Hope on the Slopes at Breckenridge
The 4th Annual Hope on the Slopes of Colorado will take place on February 28th, 2009 at Breckenridge Ski Resort.
Hope on the Slopes provides avid skiers and snowboarders an opportunity to make their day of skiing or riding more meaningful by raising money and awareness for the American Cancer Society while competing for vertical feet and celebrating their fundraising efforts in a family friendly atmosphere.
Hope on the Slopes allows skiers and boarders to compete as individuals or on a team formed from friends, family, co-workers, etc. There are no age restrictions on event participants.
Prior to the event individual and team participants register online and fundraise for the American Cancer Society. Each participant and team will receive a personal web page that they can customize with their own messages and photos. Features of the site include the ability to easily fundraise online via email, track fundraising progress, and honor loved ones touched by cancer. Registration fees that help cover costs of the event are $35 per individual or $200 per team of up to 15 members. In addition, each participant is asked to raise a minimum of $200.
While at the Hope on the Slopes event, vertical feet are tracked through Breckenridge’s bar code tracking system and are based on the distance from the top to the bottom of each marked run on the mountain. With a summit elevation of 12,998 feet and over 2,350 acres of skiing Breckenridge has vertical for everyone. Both teams and individuals will compete for fantastic prizes on two levels: Dollars Raised and Total Vertical Feet. Past prizes have included lift tickets, skis and snowboards, ski clothing, and much more! In addition, participants will enjoy $45 lift tickets, meal vouchers, discounted equipment rentals, and discounted lodging packages courtesy of Breckenridge Ski Resort, Breckenridge Sports, and Breckenridge Hospitality.
