Thursday, December 3rd, 2020 — Stevens Pass is opening with a new operational plan designed to keep guests, employees and the Washington ski community safe amid the challenges of COVID-19. The focus for the mountain’s year is health and safety and, like every resort Vail Resort, it will be stressing guests prepare before heading up the pass this season.
“Planning ahead is really the key this year. Every resort within the Vail Resorts network is working from the same playbook focused on maintaining physical distancing between guests, increasing sanitization and keeping our people in masks. We all collaborated to be as thoughtful and conservative as possible in our approach to COVID-19, and we’re asking our guests to apply this same preparation before coming from all sides of the Cascades,” says Stevens Pass Vice President – General Manager Tom Pettigrew.
The biggest change for guests is the reservation system. Every skier or snowboarder must have a reservation to be on hill before heading up to Opening Day, this Friday, Dec. 4. Stevens Pass is following all state and local health guidelines, which means we will have no indoor dining and our food options will be grab n go as well as limited hot food offerings, so guests can take them outdoors or to their vehicles. For now, guests are encouraged to bring plenty of water and snacks. Indoor lodge capacities are limited to 25% and will be monitored by Stevens Pass staff.
The mountain’s new COVID Safety Protocols require face masks, touch-free payments and physical distancing in all of its lines and facilities. The Snow School will be doing health screenings for those participating in a lessons, with limits to classes of no more than 6 guests, and tickets sales will not be done on site, as the mountain is only selling online to maintain a touch-free environment.
Pass products include all season passes, as well as the Stevens Pass Select Pass and Stevens Pass Powder Packs (four and six-packs). The pass products will remain on sale until Dec. 6, under “Tickets & Passes,” at stevenspass.com. Only pass product holders have the ability to use the reservation system and pre-reserve. Day ticket sales are currently scheduled to go on sale Dec. 8; however, ticket inventory is subject to availability.
WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
The new Stevens Pass COVID-19 Safety Protocols require you to plan for a safe and healthy mountain experience:
- Reserve your ski day. Early season is only available to pass holders; day tickets are not scheduled to go on sale online until Dec. 8. Make a ski or snowboard reservation >> HERE.
- Pack a face covering. Wearing a face covering in all lineups, on lifts and inside restaurants and stores IS mandatory.
- Be prepared to physically distance. A six-foot space between guests will be observed in lines, restaurants and on chairlifts. Expect to see physically larger lines at the base of the hill with less people. Please help us maintain a safe distance between guests at all times.
- Bring a snack and water. It’s always a good idea to have a snack in your pocket for time outdoors. This year, we are asking guests to bring food and water in their backpacks or to consumer at their cars.
- Bring a debit or credit card. The mountain is now a touch-free environment and will not be accepting cash.
