Snowmaking is officially underway at Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) and that means that opening day is just around the corner on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019. This year the resort will combine the first day of the winter season with the spirit of the former Donation Day for a new Opening Day Community Giving Celebration, a tradition that will continue annually. This year’s Community Giving Celebration will benefit the local Crested Butte Snowsports Foundation (CBSF), and Vail Resorts’ EpicPromise will match donations to contribute up to an additional $10,000 to the local organization.
“CBMR and Vail Resorts’ EpicPromise are proud to partner with the Crested Butte Snowsports Foundation to celebrate community giving along with the start of the 2019-20 winter season,” said Tim Baker, vice president and general manager of CBMR. “We’re excited to carry on the tradition of giving back to the local community while also welcoming everyone to make their first turns of the season at CBMR on Nov. 27.”
Donations to support CBSF as a part of the Community Giving Celebration can be made now through 4 p.m. on opening day, Wednesday, Nov. 27. Locals and guests are encouraged to visit CrestedButteSnowsports.org and select the Opening Day Campaign to make a donation online. Donations can also be made in person on opening day at the CBSF tent in the base area.
With the introduction of CBMR’s new Opening Day Community Giving celebration, all 2019-20 Epic Passes, local passes and tickets that include access to CBMR will be valid starting Wednesday, Nov. 27. Epic Passes are on sale now for a limited time only, and now is the last chance to secure an Epic Pass for the upcoming winter season.
The Opening Day Community Giving Celebration will continue as an annual tradition. For future celebrations the resort will host an interactive community vote to determine the local organization that will be the recipient of the year’s donations.
Inspired by one of the company’s core values, Do Good, EpicPromise is Vail Resorts’ corporate responsibility platform to support and give back to the communities, employees and the environments in which it operates. To learn more about EpicPromise visit www.epicpromise.com.
