STOWE, VT – June 11, 2018 – Stowe Mountain Resort is pleased to announce the promotion of Karen Wagner to Ski Patrol Director. Karen grew up in Woodbridge, Connecticut, went to Colby College, came to Stowe one year after graduation and became a member of the Mt. Mansfield Ski Patrol. Around a decade later she became the resort’s Risk Manager as well as a consultant for Willis Insurance. This past winter Karen served as Stowe’s assistant ski patrol director and lives in Stowe with her husband and two children.

“Karen’s strong history of risk management and patrol experience make her a great fit to be our Ski Patrol Director,” said Scott Reeves, Sr. Director of Mountain Operations.

“I’m very happy to take on this new challenge for an enterprise that fosters leadership and has women I admire in key leadership roles,” said Wagner. “I’m honored and thrilled to work with such an extraordinary team here at Stowe Mountain Resort,” Wagner added.

Stowe’s Mt. Mansfield Ski Patrol (MMSP) is the country’s oldest organized ski patrol in existence, dating back to 1934 when corrugated metal roofing was used for toboggans. Over the 84 years of its documented existence, the MMSP invented numerous first aid techniques and devices. They were recently named ‘First Responders of the Year’ and continue to be industry leaders in mountain rescue.
