WHISTLER, BC – April 20, 2018 – For the 10th year in a row, Whistler Blackcomb has been named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers. Awarded by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, it is a recognition of our commitment to sustainability and energy conservation.
“Whistler Blackcomb has consistently been a leader in this country when it comes to including environmental awareness in how we do business,” said Pete Sonntag, chief operating officer of Whistler Blackcomb. “It is in our DNA and we are extremely honoured to be recognized for our efforts, and will continue to make this commitment for a zero footprint. It is a fitting way for us to celebrate Earth Day at Whistler Blackcomb.”
Now in its 11th year, the companies selected for Canada’s Greenest Employers are chosen based on unique environmental programs and whether those have successfully reduced a company’s environmental footprint. It also looks at employee participation and how environmental awareness and sustainability are tied to a company’s identity.
Whistler Blackcomb and Vail Resorts are aggressively pursuing a comprehensive sustainability commitment with the Epic Promise for a Zero Footprint. Started at Whistler Blackcomb, this ambitious undertaking commits to zero net emissions by 2030, zero waste to the landfill by 2030 and zero net operating impact to forests and habitat.
