TRUCKEE, Calif. – May 26, 2017 – Northstar California Resort kicks-off summer 2017 by providing premier mountain biking, golfing and family activities at Lake Tahoe. Whether escaping with the kids or retreating with girlfriends, the smell of roasting s’mores isn’t far behind.
See below for a summer guide to new experiences:
Northstar Bike Park
The Northstar Bike Park offers new improvements with the extension of the intermediate Coaster singletrack trail. Staying consistent with the existing trail, the new addition makes Coaster singletrack from top to bottom.
For Bike Park beginners and experts alike, the Specialized Academy at Northstar takes mountain biking to the next level. Riders of all ages receive a personalized coaching experience from certified Specialized instructors and access to top-of-the-line Specialized downhill equipment.
The Specialized Academy also welcomes women of all abilities for Pumps on Pedals every Friday evening and the Her Mountain two-day course on July 22-23 and August 19-20. These two programs foster female-only riding to fuel confidence in a no-posturing zone, followed by après wine and beer socials.

Northstar Golf Course
Opening May 26, the Northstar Golf Course announces new GPS systems in each golf cart to enhance players’ strategy and technique. While avid players use this technology to strategize, GPS tracking is helpful for beginners by seeing progress points visually. Mid-week golfers can experience the course for $50 during Customer Appreciation Days on May 29-30, as well as June 4-6, 11-13, 18-19 and 20. Women can also perfect short and long game technique with weekly $25 golf clinics starting June 19 on Mondays at 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Northstar California encourages guests to book tee times online in advance for the best rates.
Village Activities
Beginning Friday, May 26 the Village at Northstar offers daily family activities in the Northstar Kid Zone such as gem panning, roller skating and minigolf. New for summer 2017, the minigolf course is reimagined with Sierra themed holes just in time for July 4th celebrations. Each hole is built out with replica structures and educational signage. Some of the holes feature elements like local flora, wildlife and pay homage to the area’s history of mining and ice production. Other holes feature less-known facts, like how wooden mountain bike features, showcased on Livewire trail, prevent erosion or how Northstar California’s Mount Pluto formed Lake Tahoe.
Parents have new access on the Overlook to watch kids in the Northstar Kid Zone on the Spider Climb, Bungee Trampoline and rock wall. This space includes Adirondack chairs, cornhole and close proximity to the Overlook Bar.
Dining
Yamakai Fish and Sushi Co. opens its doors in the Village at Northstar Friday, June 16. The name, inspired by Hawaiian and Japanese fusion cuisine, is a combination of the words “yama” meaning mountain in Japanese and “kai” meaning ocean in Hawaiian. Diners can expect a refined menu of seafood, sushi and Japanese-inspired fare served in a visually-inspired location near the roller rink. The extensive kids menu, wine list and colorful atmosphere create an elevated space for families to dine together.
