Famed Signature Terrain Slated to Open at Best of Tahoe Resorts

North and South Lake Tahoe, Calif./Nev. – Dec. 16, 2016 – 5 to 18 inches of fresh snowfall this morning has enabled Heavenly Mountain Resort, Northstar California and Kirkwood Mountain to open additional terrain to guests of all ability levels this week, with more trails scheduled to open for the weekend. Combined, the three resorts offer guests the most open terrain within the Lake Tahoe region.
“Continued snowmaking and winter storm patterns have made for an incredible base, and we’re thrilled to schedule additional terrain opening this week and into the approaching weekend,” said Pete Sonntag, Tahoe region senior vice president and chief operating officer for Heavenly Mountain Resort. “We are excited to welcome guests with great skiing leading into the holidays.”

Skiers and snowboarders looking for the best prices on lift tickets need look no further than their smartphone or computer to navigate to www.snow.com/lifttickets. By purchasing lift tickets seven or more days in advance online, skiers and snowboarders will receive the biggest savings – up to 25 percent – and the lowest price, guaranteed. The more days that are purchased, the more guests will save. Advance purchase tickets can be sent directly to guests by mail, allowing them to bypass the ticket window. Guests can also easily pick up their tickets at the resort express windows – or even reload previous tickets, either at the ticket window or online. Online savings can even be found up to midnight the day before skiing or riding. - Heavenly has opened the California side of the mountain with access to runs from Powder Bowl chair. Skiers and riders can also enjoy Skyline Trail from Sky Express; 1600 acres of terrain available in total.
- Northstar California will have 19/20 lifts, top-to-bottom skiing with more than 50 percent of terrain open including runs on Lookout and the famed Backside.
- Kirkwood has 1300 acres of terrain accessible, opening up the entire front side of the mountain.
