PARK CITY, Utah – Nov. 23, 2016 Park City Mountain will open for the 2016-17 winter season this Saturday, November 26 with activities at the Park City Base Area. Now the largest ski resort in the United States, Park City Mountain features two distinct base areas, over 300 runs, 41 lifts, eight terrain parks, a world-class ski and snowboard school, two-dozen restaurants, iconic special events and unparalleled grooming across 7,300 acres for every level of skier or snowboarder to enjoy.
“We’re ready for another amazing season,” said Bill Rock, chief operating officer at Park City Mountain. “Last year’s addition of the Quicksilver Gondola completely transformed the experience at Park City Mountain, creating endless opportunities for guests to explore new terrain and experience the best skiing and snowboarding in Utah. We’re looking forward to opening for a second season as the largest ski resort in the United States.”
Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort combined in the summer of 2015 to create the largest single ski and snowboard resort in the United States. A new eight passenger Quicksilver Gondola connection, along with a brand new restaurant (Miners Camp) and the new King Con Express six-pack and Motherlode Express Quad made up just some of the improvements totaling over $50 million last season.
Opening Day festivities are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Park City Base Area with live music and giveaways. To ensure the best snow surface conditions possible for Saturday, the first chair will leave at 10:00 a.m. at the PayDay lift following a ceremonial banner-breaking. The entertainment continues at 2:30 p.m. with an Après Ski Concert on PayDay deck. Regular 9:00 a.m. opening hours will resume after Saturday.
All Opening Day events on November 26 will take place at the Park City Base Area. The Canyons Village Base Area will open in the following days.
