Heavenly and Northstar Announce Update to Start of 2016-17 Season
South Lake Tahoe and Truckee, Calif./Nev. –Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016 – Heavenly Mountain Resort and Northstar California Resort announced today that the resorts will set new target opening days from Friday, Nov. 18 to Wednesday, Nov. 23. Shops, restaurants and activities in Heavenly Village and The Village at Northstar will open Friday, Nov. 18; Heavenly will offer scenic gondola rides and Ridge Rider Coaster tours Saturday, Nov. 19 and Sunday, Nov. 20.
“Heavenly and Northstar are committed to providing the best snow surface conditions at Lake Tahoe, and the added days for preparation will help to deliver the high-quality Opening Day ski experience that our guests expect,” said Pete Sonntag, senior vice president of mountain division and chief operating officer of Heavenly Mountain Resort. “National Weather Service shows an approaching trend for cold temperatures and snow, and our teams will continue to make snow at every opportunity. We’re looking forward to continuing with Opening Day preparations and for a terrific ski season.”
Kirkwood will continue with ski season preparations and looks forward to announcing its opening day as soon as possible following Heavenly and Northstar opening days. Heavenly and Northstar will provide daily updates prior to Opening Day at SkiHeavenly.com, NorthstarCalifornia.com and via respective social media channels.
Season passes to the Best of Tahoe resorts, Heavenly Mountain, Northstar California and Kirkwood Mountain, are available for the ski season. With the recent addition of Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia, Canada, all 2016-2017 Epic Pass holders will receive five free days of skiing and snowboarding at Whistler Blackcomb.
