Help Colorado Mountain Express Fill the Van on Saturday, Nov. 12
- The 2015 Fill the Van drive collected more than $4,000 in cash and more than 26,000 pounds in food donations for Colorado food banks
EDWARDS, Colo., Nov. 1, 2016 -- Colorado Mountain Express (CME) will host its 19th Annual “Fill the Van” food drive on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., when thousands of pounds of food will be collected for food banks across Colorado’s mountain communities. CME vans will be parked outside of grocery stores throughout Summit County, Eagle County and the Roaring Fork Valley accepting food donations.
As part of the joint fundraising effort between Colorado Mountain Express, Vail Resorts EpicPromise, the Vail, Avon, and Eagle Police Departments, Eagle County Sheriff’s Department, and 9NEWS’s 9Cares Colorado Shares statewide food drive, the collected donations will remain in the county in which they were donated. Beneficiaries include the Family & Intercultural Resource Center (FIRC) and Father Dyer Food Bank in Summit County, Vail Valley Salvation Army, and Lift Up in the Roaring Fork Valley.
“For nearly two decades CME has been filling local food bank pantries and supporting people in need,” said John Dawsey, vice president and general manager of CME. “We’re looking forward to another successful drive this year and encourage community members across the mountain regions and along the Front Range to support the effort, especially as we prepare for the holiday season.”
