Keystone, Colo. — Oct. 19, 2016 — Keystone Resort presents the inaugural Colorado Family Ski Month this December, a family-friendly celebration of the winter activities that define living in the Centennial State. Beginning with free skiing and riding for all kids 12 and younger on Thursday, Dec. 1, the family-sized adventures continue with the grand opening of the Snow Fort, month-long signature family activities, and the new Kidtopia Mountaintop Spectacular weekend.

That’s right! In celebration of our local Colorado families, and in honor of Keystone’s Kids Ski Free program turning 5 this winter, the resort is kicking off Colorado Family Ski Month with free skiing for all kids 12 and younger on Thursday, Dec. 1. While Kids Ski Free at Keystone all season long when parents book just two nights or more of lodging with the resort, on Dec. 1 all kids 12 and younger can ski for free just by showing up with an adult season pass or lift ticket holder.
The World’s Largest Snow Fort Opens
The World’s Largest Snow Fort returns to Keystone’s Dercum Mountain this December bigger and better than ever, offering families the ultimate snow playground at 11,640 feet above sea level. Featuring a series of tunnels, slides and mazes, the mountaintop castle is a staple of Keystone’s Kidtopia offerings, which provide free family entertainment for all. The Snow Fort is open daily during lift operating hours, and is free to guests with lift access. The Kidtopia Snow Fort is scheduled to open on Saturday, Dec. 10 and will remain open until the snow melts.
Kidtopia Mountaintop Spectacular
This winter, Keystone presents the inaugural Kidtopia Mountaintop Spectacular, featuring a weekend of festive on-mountain fun for the entire family from Dec. 16-18. This free event will showcase a variety of activities and Kidtopia programs that make the resort a top destination for families, including nightly firework displays, a torchlight ski parade led by Keystone’s Ski & Ride School, and a mountaintop celebration where guests can enjoy free snow tubing, snowcat photo opportunities, live music, hot cocoa and fireside stories with Santa. Free Specialized Ski & Ride School Clinics
Bumps, turns and trails. The Keystone Ski & Ride School will host free clinics throughout December, including an introduction to moguls, skiing parallel and linking snowboard turns, and terrain selection and mountain safety. Clinics will be held beginning at 11 a.m. on Dec. 2-4, 9-11 and 16-18. Participants must be aged 16 and older, and register in advance by calling 800-255-3715.
Santa Claus is Coming to Keystone
The big guy himself will be on-hand beginning Saturday, Nov. 26 and will make appearances throughout December, before he embarks upon his prior obligations.
