Pass holders with a passion for Afton Alps will enjoy unlimited, unrestricted access to Minnesota’s highest quality snow thanks to the ski area’s state-of-the-art snowmaking system, which was part of a $10 million investment in 2013. Not only does the snowmaking system improve the snow at Afton Alps, it also significantly reduces the ski area’s energy use. The installation of energy-efficient snow guns, in combination with other upgrades to the snowmaking system, allows the ski area to efficiently utilize existing water resources and decrease energy consumption. In essence, guests can feel good about the premier snow surface at Afton Alps, which is a benefit for all ability levels.
“Of all of the investments and upgrades put into Afton Alps in 2013, the most consistent feedback we hear from guests is how much the quality of the snow has improved,” said Joe Yasis, general manager of Afton Alps. “The highest-quality snow surface differentiates Afton Alps from other ski areas in Minnesota, and our season passes offer the added benefit of a variety of skiing and snowboarding experiences at the best resorts in the West.”
