Tough Mudder Returns to Tahoe
Tough Mudder will return to Tahoe on June 11 & 12, 2016 to host sixth Tough Mudder event in the area.

Following a highly successful event last June, which brought over 10,000 participants to Northstar California Resort, Tough Mudder will return to Truckee once again to host Tough Mudder Tahoe on June 11 & 12, 2016. The 10+ mile course featuring signature Tough Mudder obstacles is the ultimate test of physical & mental strength, stamina and teamwork. Featuring winding trails and steep mountain climbs, the Tahoe course forces participants to dig deep and embrace the challenge. Registrations are now open for the event and can be purchased by visiting: https://toughmudder.com/events/2016-tahoe

Tough Mudder Tahoe:
  • 2015 Recap: For a recap of 2015 highlights, check out this video: Tough Mudder Tahoe 2015. Over 10,000 people are expected to take part in the event.
  • Locations: Tough Mudder Tahoe will take place at Northstar California Resort in Truckee, CA on June 11 & 12, 2016.
  • Obstacles: The 10+ mile course will feature 20-25 of Tough Mudder’s best-in-class, epic obstacles designed to test physical strength, mental grit, teamwork and stamina. Participants can expect classic obstacles such as: King of the Swingers, requiring participants to jump off a platform, grab a lever and swing out to reach a bell before dunking into muddy water; Everest 2.0, a run up a quarter-pipe requiring both speed and teamwork; and Electroshock Therapy, Mudders must finish strong together as they dodge between hanging wires charged with over 10,000 volts of electricity. New obstacles hitting the course include:
    • Block Ness Monster - a series of massive rotating blocks submerged in a pool of waist-deep muddy water. Teamwork is absolutely essential to making it over this one. When tested at events in 2015, it was the highest rated obstacle by participants over any obstacle in Tough Mudder history.
    • Cage Crawl - back by popular demand, this one is an enclosed tank filled with water and covered by a chain link fence. Participants must use the fence above them to pull themselves through the tightly confined space.
    • Pyramid Scheme - another favorite that's back by popular demand, Pyramid Scheme requires participants to literally build a human pyramid and ladder over each other to ascend over this slippery, A-framed slope.
  • Finish Experience: All Tough Mudder participants will receive a custom performance finisher t-shirt, as well as a finisher headband and an ice cold Shock Top beer.
For the Tahoe event, Tough Mudder is also partnering with The Legend of Tarzan ahead of the movie premiere. Participants will be taking on a rebranded “King of the Jungle” obstacle.

For 2016 events, Tough Mudder announced a presenting partnership with renowned outdoor apparel brand Merrell, which includes performance finisher t-shirts and a joint product line that features Merrell’s expertise in premier outdoor gear. Together they have recently launched the co-branded All Out Crush shoes, engineered for those taking on endurance events like Tough Mudder.

“We are thrilled to return to Northstar California Resort once again for Tough Mudder Tahoe,” said Courtney Jordan, Event Director for Tough Mudder. “We have such a strong partnership with the Truckee community, and we look forward to building on the success of last year’s event, as well as providing a positive economic impact on the region, as we bring together Mudders from all over the world to see what’s in store for 2016.”

“Apart from being an exciting and truly incredible adventure for both participants and spectators, Tough Mudder is the single most attended event on our mountain year after year,” said Beth Howard, vice president and general manager of Northstar California Resort. “We welcome this community of athletes and supporters and are happy to provide the varied terrain that helps keep the course unique and challenging.”

Tough Mudder Tahoe will once again play host to Fruit Shoot Mini Mudder, a muddy, one-mile obstacle course designed for kids 7-12. With obstacles such as Gooey Shoes, Mount Mud and Secret Agent Squeeze, Fruit Shoot Mini Mudder is a fun event that gives kids a chance to work as a team, get muddy and experience the thrill of outdoor adventures.

Tough Mudder and Merrell are also joining with live social media platform Snapchat, so participants can submit their snaps and see them culminated on Snapchat’s “Live Story” feature, which attracts millions of viewers.

Registrations are now open for Tough Mudder Tahoe; spectator tickets are also available. For those looking for a discounted registration price, volunteer opportunities are also available. To view the current schedule of events visit toughmudder.com/events.
