CarniVail Brings Mardi Gras Flair to Vail
Event Lineup Full of Events to Spice Up Winter
VAIL, Colo. – Jan. 13, 2016 – From a crawfish bowl to a Fat Tuesday Parade and Street Festival, CarniVail adds spice to the wintery atmosphere at Vail Mountain. On February 6-9, 2016, CarniVail returns with more New-Orleans-style fun and Mardi Gras merriment.
“We are excited that CarniVail is returning this year and cannot wait for the festive Mardi-Grasesque atmosphere,” said Jim Kellen, director of marketing at Vail.
With all the Cajun fixin’s of a legendary crawfish boil, the traditional-style Fat Tuesday Parade and Street Festival, the non-stop Cajun après and After-Dark parties, live music, fun contests, prizes and giveaways, CarniVail will be the ultimate Mardi Gras celebration at 8,150’.
The highlight of the Mardi Gras celebration will be the Fat Tuesday Parade and Bud Light Street Party in Vail Village on Tuesday, February 9. The venue opens at 3 p.m., with the parade starting at 4 p.m., followed by a by a free concert by MarchFourth! Marching Band. MarchFourth! is an internationally-acclaimed, genre-breaking force in the world of live performance – a sonic explosion delivered by 15 musicians and dancers and aerialists.
The Fat Tuesday Parade will travel from Meadow Drive at Solaris, up International Bridge and east on Gore Creek Drive. It will exit out from Vail Village near Gorsuch on Gore Creek Drive and will conclude with the official crowning of the CarniVail King and Queen and announcement of the Float Competition winner at the concert stage. Voting for the CarniVail King and Queen begins on Friday, January 15 at www.vaildaily.com/carnivail.
Participants of the Fat Tuesday Parade have the chance to win prizes, including $1,000 cash for first place. Judging will be based on creativity, workmanship, originality, costumes and casting, and overall impression. Parade registration is free and open to the public.
