Breck Hosts Extreme Weather Town Hall Event Moderated by Jim Cantore

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. — Jan. 11, 2016 — Breckenridge Ski Resort and the Breckenridge Tourism Office invite the public to join an engaging and fascinating evening of discussion around extreme weather, moderated by the Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore,  Wednesday, Jan. 20 from 6-7 p.m. in the Columbine room at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Breckenridge.

Mr. Cantore will be joined by a panel of leading scientists from across the nation, including Colorado scientists Dr. Jim White, Director of the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research and a Professor in the Department of Geological Sciences and Environmental Studies Program at the University of Colorado, Dr. Lora Koenig, a Senior Research Scientist at the National Snow & Ice Data Center at the University of Colorado and Dr. Phil Klotzbach, Research Scientist in the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University.

This town hall-type event is part of the 2016 Glen Gerberg Climate and Weather Summit and is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. This will be an interactive opportunity to speak with the scientists, ask questions and be engaged in critical conversations. Key questions for the evening:
  • Why are we seeing such Extreme Weather?
  • What can be done about it?
  • How do we make our communities more resilient?
  • How can we better deliver and get the message out about Extreme Weather

  • Dr. Phil Klotzbach, Colorado State University

  • Greg Mandt, GOES-R Satellite Program
  • Jim Gandy, Chief Meteorologist, WLTX-TV Columbia, SC
Seating is limited so please make plans to attend and arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the event start. Free parking is available in the Beaver Run Lot across the street.
