Keystone Resort Offers Ultimate Family Holiday Destination Beginning Thanksgiving Weekend

Keystone, Colo. — Nov. 24, 2015 — The winter season is off to an incredible start at Keystone Resort, the premiere family ski resort, with more than 75 inches of snowfall having already blanketed the slopes this season. As the holiday season approaches, the resort offers guests a true winter wonderland featuring fantastic on-mountain terrain and snow conditions, fun winter activities, free festive family and holiday programming, and a variety of signature dining options perfect for the whole family.
 
Keystone is currently offering guests more than 900 acres of skiable terrain with 51 trails. The Mountain House base area will open on Wednesday, offering an additional access point to the mountain, as well as skier and rider services including parking, lift tickets, ski school and food and beverage. On Friday the resort plans to open North Peak, providing guests access to more than 1,100 acres of terrain across all three mountains at Keystone. Skiers and riders can look forward to a variety of groomed terrain for beginners and intermediates on Dercum Mountain, and advanced natural terrain in The Outback and then on North Peak beginning Friday. In addition, the award-winning A51 terrain park will open in its permanent home on Wednesday, Nov. 25. After offering an excellent early-season terrain park, A51 will open with The Alley and Lower Park Lane, providing guests with a variety of medium features, as well as Upper I-70 which will contain small features perfect for first-timers or those looking to progress.
 
Beginning on Thanksgiving weekend, Keystone’s multitude of offerings kick off in a big way with the opening of signature restaurantsKidtopiascenic and dinner sleigh ridesice skatingsnow tubingnight skiing and more, plus an entire month of festive holiday offerings, meaning families have flexibility surrounding a visit without missing any of the fun opportunities – like meeting Santa of course. The best part of all, families can take advantage of Keystone’s industry-leading Kids Ski Free program.
 
Signature Dining Experiences
The options for unique family dining experiences at Keystone are endless. Enjoy signature on-mountain dining experiences this season, including the highest AAA Four-Diamond™ restaurant in North America at Alpenglow Stube and fondue for the whole family at Der Fondue Chessel. Located in the Outpost at the top of Keystone’s North Peak, and accessed by two gondola rides, the Alpenglow Stube and Der Fondue Chessel offer unique dining experiences for the whole family at 11,444 feet. Both restaurants open Wednesday, Nov. 25.
 
In town, enjoy authentic and festive dining experiences at the Ski Tip Lodge, a historic 1800’s stagecoach stop that is now one of the top restaurant’s in the country; The Keystone Ranch, an original 1930s ranch homestead with a new Colorado steakhouse menu; and Keystone’s dinner sleigh ride, where guests can enjoy a magical horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snow to a rustic ranch homestead for dinner.
 
Keystone’s Kidtopia: Unmatched Family Programming starting Thanksgiving Weekend
Keystone continues to redefine the family resort experience with daily Kidtopia activities that complement any visit to the resort. Kids of all ages, including those young at heart, can enjoy a variety of daily programming throughout the winter season, including the popular Saturday parade and fireworks, and the world’s largest snow fort, set to debut on Saturday, Dec. 12. Santa Claus is Coming to Town
The big guy himself will be on-hand beginning Saturday, Nov. 28 during the first of Keystone’s Saturday Village Parades and will make appearances through Christmas Eve, before he embarks upon his prior obligations. From photo opportunities and story times, to parades and ice skating, Santa Claus will be in resort throughout December, with dates and locations of his appearances available at keystoneresort.com.
 
Keystone Chocolate Village Turns 20
Keystone Executive Pastry Chef Ned Archibald utilizes 8,000 pounds of imported chocolate for the Keystone Chocolate Village and it has been a hand-crafted holiday tradition at the resort for the past 19 years. Featuring a working chocolate gondola, cascading chocolate waterfall, four-foot tall chocolate Christmas tree, and many other winter scenes, this chocolate masterpiece is free to attend. Located in the lobby of the Keystone Lodge & Spa from Dec. 18 through Jan. 3.
 
Kids Ski Free – Even During Holidays
Returning for a fourth season, Keystone’s Kids Ski Free program is easy on the wallet, easy on the rules and hard to beat. Available every day for the duration of the season, including weekends and holidays, families need only to book two or more nights of lodging through Keystone Resort for any child 12 and younger to ski for free.
