Keystone Resort to Open Expert Terrain in the Outback, plus additional Beginner Terrain this Weekend
With more than 60 inches of snowfall this season, Keystone Resort will open The Outback on Friday at 12 p.m., offering expert natural terrain for skiers and riders. Guests can access The Outback via the Outpost Gondola and a service road to the Outback Express Lift, and will utilize the Wayback Lift to Outpost Gondola to return to Dercum Mountain.
There will be no groomed runs in The Outback and terrain is for experts only. Open trails will include Black Forest, Bushwhacker, Badger, The Grizz, Timberwolf, The Wolf Den and The Trap.
Keystone will also open additional beginner terrain on Saturday, providing top-to-bottom skiing and riding for beginners on Dercum Mountain. Beginner trails Schoolmarm, Last Chance, Schoolmaster, Jay Bird and Ina’s Way will provide beginner trail access to the base of River Run.
Mother Nature has provided the resort with plentiful snowfall, including more than two feet of snow in the past three days and more than 60 inches so far this season, with more in the forecast. Ideal snowmaking conditions have also allowed the mountain operations team to continue snowmaking efforts and provide great groomed terrain for skiers and riders.
Keystone’s A51 early season terrain park is open with three lines and more than 20 features plus a jump on the lift-serviced Scout trail at the top of Dercum Mountain.
Keystone’s mountain operations teams will continue to work towards expanding terrain as conditions permit. Updates will be made as additional terrain becomes available.
