Keystone Resort Opens for the 2015-2016 Season with the Most Vertical Feet in Colorado
Keystone, Colo. — Nov. 6, 2015 — Keystone Resort debuted the 2015-2016 season with more than 1,600 vertical feet of intermediate terrain on Spring Dipper – the most available vertical feet in Colorado. Early risers were in line prior to the River Run Gondola opening at 9 a.m. and were treated to 4-inches of new snow in the past 24 hours, and 12-inches of new snow in the past 48 hours, providing excellent first-day conditions.
The first cabin was dedicated to Bill Bergman and his extended family, in honor of Keystone Resort co-founder Jane Bergman, who passed away this fall. Mr. Bergman and his family loaded the ‘Bergman Cabin’, a special gondola cabin that was dedicated to Bill and Jane in 2012. Bill and Jane co-founded Keystone along with Max and Edna Dercum.
The “first chair” went to a group of dedicated skiers and riders who waited in line throughout the night, and were rewarded with the first turns of the season at Keystone.
Guests were treated to complimentary fresh doughnuts, hot chocolate, coffee and fantastic giveaways prior to the first turns of the season. Additionally, the first 500 skiers and riders in line received a Keystone reusable water bladder. Keystone provided free parking across the resort as a thank you to guests for the early season patronage – free parking in the River Run Montezuma lot and Mountain House Pika lot remain free for the duration of the season.
Friday also marked the official return of Keystone’s signature Kids Ski Free offer. The program is poised to reach 100,000 free kids tickets provided during the fourth season of the program, with a special celebration planned for this winter to honor the milestone. Every day, all season long, kids 12 and younger ski for free at Keystone with no blackout dates. All guests need to do to qualify is stay two or more nights in one of Keystone’s numerous accommodation options, which span from luxury hotel rooms to cozy ski-in, ski-out condominiums. When it comes to family, no one does it better than Keystone. Reservations may be made at Keystoneresort.com or by calling 800-328-1323.
