Best of Tahoe Resorts Walloped by El Niño; Last Chance for Skiers and Riders to Get the Tahoe Local Pass
  • Heavenly hauls-in 12-18 inches; Northstar nets 12-14 inches; Kirkwood kills it with more than 18 inches
  • Last Day to purchase Tahoe Local Passes and Tahoe Value Passes is Sunday, Nov. 22
  • Cold temperatures ignite west coast’s most powerful snowmaking systems to help build incredible base for the 2015-16 season
The Best of Tahoe Resorts – Heavenly Mountain Resort, Northstar California and Kirkwood Mountain Resort – received an early gift from Mother Nature with each mountain reporting nearly two feet of snow in an early season Sierra storm. With snow on the ground and El Niño in full force, it’s the perfect time to purchase the Tahoe Local Pass before the last deadline hits on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015.

“The Tahoe Local Pass is the best season pass at Lake Tahoe,” said Pete Sonntag, Tahoe region vice president and chief operating officer.   “Our pass holders get to ski and ride on the incredible conditions at Lake Tahoe’s three finest resorts, and they also benefit from five free days in Utah and Colorado. This is an unprecedented value in the industry where guests can capitalize on the best skiing and riding in the West.”

Heavenly and Northstar are slated to open for the 2015-16 season on Friday, Nov. 20, and Kirkwood is scheduled to open on Saturday, Nov. 21.

Utilizing the Tahoe Epic Passes, guests experience benefits from the West Coast’s most sophisticated, state-of-the-art snowmaking systems at Heavenly and Northstar that ensure Tahoe’s most consistent and reliable snow surfaces. Kirkwood brings an undisputed reputation for major snowfall and huge accumulation that translates to world-class powder and an authentic big-mountain skiing and riding experience.

“Usually, you buy your pass before you know what the snow is going to be like,” said Sonntag, “but with nearly two feet on the ground already, it’s looking like an awesome start to the season!”
