Keystone Ideal Location for a Family Summer Mountain Getaway

Keystone, Colo. — April 23, 2015 — Keystone Resort’s 2015 summer season kicks into high gear in just 50 days with the seasonal opening of Keystone’s on- and off-mountain activities on Friday, June 12. The summer season’s Opening Weekend at Keystone will feature lodging and dining discounts, free events and the first opportunity to hit the mountain, whether in the Keystone Bike Park or on foot.

On Friday, the Keystone Bike Park commences summer operations at 10 a.m. and will remain open daily through September 7, with two additional weekends September 12-13 and 19-20. The Keystone Bike Park features a variety of upgrades and additions, including a bigger and better skills park and improved jump lines, new wooden features and the addition of berms and jumps on signature trails Paid-in-Full and Cowboy Up. Signature Bike Park events such as the VIDA MTB Series (formerly the Betti All Ride Skills Clinic) and Big Mountain Enduro return, as does Women’s Wednesdays Clinics. While experienced riders will love pushing their riding to the next level, newcomers to the sport can also take advantage of Keystone’s Bike 101 and 201 clinics beginning Opening Weekend and continuing throughout the summer season. Bike and full downhill gear rentals are conveniently available at Keystone Sports locations in the resort’s River Run Village. Bike Park Season Passes begin at $159 and may be purchased by calling (800) 842-8062. For those looking for a unique multi-resort opportunity, the Vail Resort’s FreeRide pass offers unlimited riding in Colorado, Utah and California.

The first installment of Keystone’s festive Friday Afternoon Club begins at 1 p.m. on June 12 and is a weekly event that provides families and guests the opportunity to enjoy free live music, food and drink specials, and free summer favorites including horseshoes, slacklines, corn hole and bocce ball, all atop Keystone’s scenic Dercum Mountain. Families can take in a quick mountaintop hike and watch as mountain bikers pedal by, all while enjoying stunning views overlooking Lake Dillon and the Ten Mile mountain range from 11,640-feet above elevation. Friday Afternoon Club occurs every Friday, with free adult and child foot passenger lift tickets beginning at 1 p.m. and live music starting at 4 p.m.

Keystone’s Kidtopia program provides families with a variety of activities and fun adventures that are sure to compliment any visit to the resort. Free Kidtopia offerings will be available daily throughout the resort from June 8 through September 20, and includes a kite building workshop, frisbee golf challenges, family dodge ball, teen Nintendo Wii games played on a giant screen, fishing derbies, and a Splash Fest that features a host of summer water games.

Additionally, the Kidtopia Play Park, centrally located in River Run Village, features a bungee trampoline, climbing wall, gem panning and bounce house and is open daily beginning June 12. On Sundays, the little ones can enjoy a free race designed specifically for kids 2-to-5 years old during the Stryder Balance Bike Series. Running from June 14 through early September, the eight-race series takes place from 10-11 a.m. in River Run Village.

Great deals on overnight getaways are currently available and include up the 40 percent off the variety of lodging options available at Keystone. Rooms begin at just $138 a night, and with any two-night stay booked through Keystone Property Management, guests receive a free scenic lift ticket for any child younger than 12, as well as a free yoga class, guided hike and nine holes of golf for anyone in the group – adult or child. For those not yet ready to completely give up the snow, Keystone offers a unique Ski&Tee package. Enjoy a Spring morning on the slopes at nearby Arapahoe Basin, followed by a round of golf at one of Keystone’s two stunning courses. Starting at just $200 per person and available through June 7, this is a one-of-a-kind Rocky Mountain offer.

Keystone Resort has long been known as a place where families rule, and summers are no exception, where turning lifts carry mountain bikers, hikers and families seeking mountaintop summer adventures, rather than skiers and riders searching for fresh turns. From scenic lift rides and guided hikes to horseback riding and 36-holes of championship golf, the opportunities for summer adventures are endless. Sitting at 9,280-feet above elevation and just a short, scenic drive from Denver, Keystone is the ultimate location for families to enjoy the allure of the mountains this summer.
