Truckee Resident / Northstar Vice President and General Manager, Beth Howard, Recognized as Leader Who Will Shape Future of Mountain Resort Industry
Ski Area Management Magazine announced today that Beth Howard, vice president and general manager at Northstar California Resort, has been honored with a 2015 SAMMY Award. Ms. Howard was one of 12 nominees from around the country for this year’s award.
As explained on Ski Area Management Magazine’s website, SAMMY Awards are annual, industry-wide honors earned by individuals who will shape the future of the mountain resort industry, and who possess innovative drive, intelligence and dedication for leading the industry to success. Winners will be recognized May 3 at the SAMMY Awards event at the National Ski Areas Association conference in San Francisco.
“I am absolutely honored, and this recognition is to be shared with the entire Northstar team, as it was achievable only through the collective ownership of our goals,” said Beth Howard, vice president and general manager for Northstar. “The leadership culture at Northstar is incredibly special. Equally, the Truckee Tahoe community has been integrally supportive throughout my inaugural year – for which I am eternally grateful.”
Ms. Howard joined the Truckee Tahoe community in the fall of 2014 when she began her role as vice president and general manager for Northstar California. Through her leadership, she has continued to build upon the resort’s four-season commitment to superb guest service and a premier mountain resort experience. She began her career with Vail Resorts in 1985 as a college intern at Beaver Creek, which led to a 30-year career with the company. In 2010, Beth was promoted to vice president of mountain dining and clubs where she had operational oversight of mountain dining across all of the company's resorts, including more than 100 restaurants and eight private mountain and golf clubs.
Beth Howard has been a constant and crucial source of expertise, insight and inspiration for all team members at the resort. She is a leader, mentor and friend – and the Northstar team wishes to celebrate and congratulate her on this incredible achievement.
