Take Advantage Now of Keystone’s Offerings Before Season Ends
Keystone, Colo. — March 26, 2015 — Spring has officially sprung, providing skiers and riders with softer snow, longer days and multiple end-of-season events to enjoy the last days of Keystone’s 2014-15 winter season. Snow enthusiasts still have time to make spring turns and take advantage of lodging discounts, daily activities and a variety of events before the season comes to a close on Sunday, April 12.
End of Season Highlights Include:
Final Fireworks
Keystone’s final Kidtopia Fireworks display will happen at 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 28 with free parking available in the River Run Parking Lot. Enjoy the slopes during Keystone’s night skiing operations before enjoying a spring firework display from River Run Village.
Red Bull Schlittentag
On Saturday, April 4, Keystone hosts the Red Bull Schlittentag, otherwise known as “daredevils willing to propel themselves down a snow-covered hill and over a jump on a sled they built themselves.” Beginning at 2 p.m. at the Mountain House Base Area, teams of three will begin launching their sleds downhill and will be judged on creativity, fastest time, and distance flown off kicker. Participants and spectators alike can enjoy the Red Bull Schlittentag free of charge, with no registration or viewing fees. More information and registration can be found at redbull.com.
Keystone Easter Egg Hunt
Children ages 1-10 have the opportunity to search for hundreds of Easter Eggs hidden by the Easter Bunny at Keystone’s Mountain House Base Area, including a limited number of golden eggs containing special prizes – all eggs, golden or otherwise, must be returned to claim prizes. The Easter Egg Hunt features two age groups, 1-6 and 7-10, and starts at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively.
Lazy Mornings
Keystone will begin its Spring operating schedule Monday, April 6. For the final week of the season, the resort’s lift operations will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Lifts will begin spinning 30 minutes later than the start time during the heart of the season, providing guests more time to gear up and fuel up before getting those first turns of the day.
Easter Family Brunch
While not hunting for Easter Eggs, families can enjoy an Easter Brunch at Keystone’s Bighorn Bistro from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Children can enjoy their very own brunch buffet options, while parents can enjoy classic brunch options, complete with a bloody mary bar. Bighorn Bistro offers excellent views of Lakeside Village and offers a memorable location for an Easter family brunch.
For those looking for an elevated experience, Keystone’s signature Alpenglow Stube will host its final brunch of the season on Easter Sunday from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. While enjoying mountaintop views from 11,666’, Stube Bruch guests may savor over-the-top seafood and dessert buffets, as well as breakfast favorites and a complimentary mimosa as part of the weekly champagne brunch.
Closing Day Slush Cup
Keystone’s annual closing day Slush Cup provides participants and spectators alike one last final hoorah as the 2014-15 comes to a close. Competitors on skis and snowboards will put their pond skimming skills to the test as they vie for a 2015-16 Summit Value Season Pass awarded to the Best Overall, Best Crash and Best Costume. New this season, an additional ‘lower-impact’ pond will be available for contestants ages 6-13. Children aged 14-17 have their choice of skimming the children’s or adult’s pond. Space is limited and participants may register online at 2015keystoneslushcup.com. Keystone’s Slush Cup begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Mountain House Base Area and features live music from The Beloved Invaders, an instrumental surf band featuring both originals and covers.
Kids Ski Free
All lodging stays of two nights or more include Keystone’s industry-leading Kids Ski Free offer for children 12 and younger. Keystone’s Kids Ski Free program contains no red tape, fine print, or blackout dates and is available daily, including weekends and holidays.
Sun and Fun
With longer days and plenty of Colorado sunshine, Spring is the time to enjoy the mountain environment, including Keystone’s many decks and “beach” areas. Perfect for soaking up those Colorado rays, Labonte’s Smokehouse BBQ beach, complete with Adirondack chairs, the deck at Timberridge, Last Lift Bar’s rooftop seating and 9280’s patio in the heart of River Run Village are some of the best places to relax before, during, or after a day on the mountain.
