Fantastic Events, Spectacular Skiing and Riding, On-Mountain Picnics, and Après are Some of the Many Signs of Spring in Vail
When most people think of spring, things like birds chirping, bees buzzing and flowers blooming might come to mind. At Vail the signs of spring are a little different. Spring in Vail means powder days in between bluebird days, sun-filled afternoons on the snow, goggle tans from on-mountain picnics, barbeques and après, great events and even better deals. And, while we may be biased, spring is truly one of the best times to be in Vail.

Spectacular Skiing and Snowboarding
Sure it’s technically not the middle of winter anymore but March and April typically still bring snow storms to Vail, and in between the great weather and sun-filled days springtime often offers plenty of powder days as well. Combine great conditions with the variety of Vail’s terrain that remains open through April, and it makes for a fantastic time on the mountain.

On-Mountain Picnics and Barbeques
Springtime offers the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the warmer weather and one of seven scenic decks located across Vail Mountain and open for public use throughout the ski day. Pack up a picnic lunch and enjoy the scenery at Windows Deck, located near Wildwood Barbeque with views overlooking Sun Down Bowl, or Jebbie’s Deck, a great family-friendly spot located off the Avanti trail just above the EpicMix Race Course. If the spring season has you yearning for a backyard barbeque, why not make it a mountaintop barbeque and utilize the complimentary gas barbeque grills located at Hawk’s Nest Deck, Henry’s Hut or Belle’s Camp in Blue Sky Basin. There is no better springtime activity than skiing or snowboarding at Vail followed by a barbeque with friends at 11,000 feet above sea-level.

Spring is THE time for Après
Après is great any time of the season, but if après had an official time of year it would definitely be spring! Enjoy the extended hours of daylight provided by Mother Nature this time of year, and sit outside and soak up the sun at one of Vail’s many great après spots. For on-mountain après, The 10th is open Tuesdays through Saturdays featuring a south-facing outdoor deck to catch the afternoon rays, drink specials and live music every Friday and Saturday afternoon. And new for this spring, enjoy a taste of the tropics on mountain at The Beach at Vail, located outside Sarge’s Shelter at Mid-Vail. The Beach at Vail is open daily from 12-3 p.m. through closing day, April 19 and features an outdoor tiki bar and tropical drink specials, plus music from DJ Ramona every Saturday afternoon. At the base of the mountain, Tavern on the Square has the best outdoor patio in Lionshead and the bacon bloody Mary’s are a must-try. Plus, classic spots like Garfinkel’s, Red Lion, Los Amigos and Vendetta’s offer a happening après scene. No matter what your après style, Vail has you covered.

Extended Hours on the Mountain – March 28 - April 11, 2015
During the two week period from Saturday, March 28 through Saturday, April 11 at Vail Mountain guests can put in their nine-to-five hours on the slopes instead of in the office when the resort adjusts operating hours to 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vail’s Back Bowls and Blue Sky Basin lifts will close according to their regular schedule during this time while most Front Side lifts will remain open until 5 p.m. Beginning Sunday, April 12 for the final week of the season, operating hours will shift to 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
