Keystone Resort Commences Summer Operations on Friday, June 12
  • Keystone Bike Park, Friday Afternoon Club Kick-Off Summer Adventures
Keystone, Colo. — March 4, 2015 — While the snow has been steadily falling at Keystone Resort lately – providing excellent spring skiing and riding conditions, in just 100 short days the turning lifts will be carrying mountain bikers, hikers and families looking to enjoy summer adventures, rather than skiers in search of fresh powder. On Friday, June 12, summer at Keystone kicks into high gear with the seasonal opening of the Keystone Bike Park, as well as all of Keystone’s on-mountain and Village activities. From bounce houses and gem panning to mountaintop hiking and the weekly Friday Afternoon Club mountain bar-b-que, families will have plenty of ways to celebrate the season at Keystone.

The 2015 Keystone Bike Park will be highlighted with a variety of upgrades and additions, including a bigger and better skills park and improved jump lines, new wooden features and the addition of berms and jumps on signature trails Paid-in-Full and Cowboy Up. Additionally, a remodel will begin on the expert trail TNT while construction of an entirely new trail will get underway mid-season. Signature Bike Park events such as the VIDA MTB Series (formerly the Betti All Ride Skills Clinic) and Big Mountain Enduro return, as does Women’s Wednesdays Clinics.

Keystone’s festive Friday Afternoon Club weekly event offers families and guests the opportunity to enjoy live music, food and drink specials, and summer activities such as horseshoes, corn hole and bocce ball, all atop Keystone’s Dercum Mountain. Friday Afternoon Club occurs every Friday, with free foot passenger lift tickets for adults and children available every Friday beginning at 1 p.m., with music beginning on the mountain at 4 p.m. and the fun continuing until 7:30 p.m.

In addition to the Keystone Bike Park and Friday Afternoon Club, Opening Weekend will feature the first Stryder Balance Bike Series of the summer on Saturday, June 13. This free race is designed specifically for kids 2-to-5 years old and takes place in River Run Village from 10-11 a.m. Eight Stryder events will make up the summer series, running from June through early September.

Keystone’s daily on- and off-mountain summer activities provide families with a variety of options to enjoy the high-country, including 36-holes of championship golf, scenic lift rides, guided hikes, horseback riding, mountaintop snow tubing, and the Kidtopia Play Park. As one of the closest ski resorts to Denver, Keystone is the ultimate location for families to enjoy the allure of the mountains in the summer, while enjoying the cooler temperatures, low humidity and plethora of outdoor recreation.

Great deals on summer lodging are available now on Keystonresort.com, including the exclusive 96-Hour Sale, concluding Friday, March 6 at 11: 59 p.m. Rooms start at just $99 a night, and include Keystone’s Play for Free added value package with stays of two or more nights.
