12th Annual Talons Challenge at Beaver Creek Invites all Ages to Test Abilities on 14 Advanced Runs
Beaver Creek, Colo., March 2, 2015 — Beaver Creek will once again invite devoted mountaineers to tackle the 14-trail, 26,000 vertical-foot test of brawn and brain at the 12th annual Talons Challenge presented by Helly Hansen on Saturday, March 7, 2015.

The competition pits alpine adventurers against themselves in a one-day conquest of black and double black diamond terrain, recently vanquished by the world’s top athletes at the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. Participants will attempt 14 runs in one day off of terrain on Grouse Mountain, Larkspur Bowl and Birds of Prey. Those who successfully complete the feat will earn their names on the Talons Wall of Fame located in Talons Restaurant. Part of what makes Talons Challenge fun is that all ages are able to compete and people compete solo, with friends or with family. Participants don’t have to finish the challenge to enjoy themselves but they do have to finish to have their names put on the Talons Wall of Fame.

The event is limited to the first 1,500 registrants. Talons Challenge registration fills every year and participants are encouraged to register early in order to secure a spot. Included in the registration fee is access to the Talons Challenge, a commemorative lanyard and credential for tracking runs, special 12th Edition Talons Challenge swag, food and drink, and the chance to win a spectacular assortment of prizes at the après party raffle. Advance online registration is $35 plus a processing fee and $40 for day-of purchase. A valid season pass or lift ticket is required and is not included in event fees. Registration day-of will be at 8 a.m. at the Helly Hansen booth by the Covered Bridge in Beaver Creek Village and outside of Talons Restaurant at 8:30 a.m. Raffle prizes include restaurant gift certificates, spa packages, rafting trips, skis, bindings and more; participants must be present to win and all registrants  are entered with their credential number.

The 17,000 square foot, European-inspired, Talons Restaurant, will host the Talons Challenge après party and showcase the Talons Challenge Wall of Fame on a 60-inch interactive screen. Participants will receive a free food item and drink from the provided choices which they can use starting at 12 p.m. that day. The restaurant features 580 indoor seats on two levels, 250 outdoor seats on two decks and an indoor-outdoor bar, named The Brink; Talons is the perfect spot to celebrate after a fun day on the mountain with views of the Talons Challenge terrain.

The 12th Annual Talons Challenge is presented by Helly Hansen with additional support from Audi, Red Bull, Bud Light, Nature Valley and Pakems. A portion of proceeds from the event will be donated to SOS Outreach, which is an organization that provides 5,500 kids with an adventure-based youth development curriculum.
