Nine inches of new snow fell in the last 24 hours at Vail Mountain, one of the largest ski resorts in the world, providing skiers and snowboarders plenty of soft powder turns under bright blue Colorado skies today. The resort has seen more than 20” of new snow since the recent storm cycle swept through the Rocky Mountains beginning Friday evening.
With the potential for more snow throughout the rest of the week and into the weekend, guests can expect great conditions across the mountain at Vail as we head into the month of March – historically the snowiest month of the season!
Aside from great snow conditions, there’s plenty to look forward to as we head into the spring skiing and riding season at Vail, including great events like the upcoming Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships, extended hours, après parties, mountaintop picnics and the resort’s signature end-of-season bash, Spring Back to Vail.
The 33rd Burton U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships Return to Vail Mountain Next Week!
The Burton US Open, which first took place in 1982, is the longest-running snowboarding competition in the world and draws the best riders to compete for a coveted US Open title. On the heels of the 2015 Alpine World Ski Championships, snowsports enthusiasts can get their fill of world-class, Olympic-level slopestyle and halfpipe snowboarding competitions in Golden Peak by day, and enjoy free concerts from names including Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Moon Hooch, Girl Talk and more by night.
