  • Vail Resorts to award 63 Epic Passes to epic women everywhere through the “Lindsey Vonn Like No One on Earth Contest”
BROOMFIELD, Colo. – Jan. 19, 2015 – Vail Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: MTN) and the entire Vail community offer their heartfelt congratulations to hometown hero, Olympic and World Championship gold medalist, and Vail Resorts Epic Pro Team member, Lindsey Vonn, on achieving World Cup history by winning her 63rd individual World Cup race today at Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy.

“Lindsey’s tireless work ethic and determination in rehabilitating her knee, getting back into top physical condition and returning to ski racing even stronger and better than before has been truly inspiring to watch as one of the greatest comeback stories of all time,” said Rob Katz, chairman and chief executive officer of Vail Resorts. “Lindsey’s commitment to excellence and always pushing herself to the next level is a true reflection of the spirit of Vail. We couldn’t be more proud to support Lindsey and look forward to celebrating this historical moment with her when she’s back here in her hometown for the 2015 World Alpine Ski Championships.”

A ski resort community steeped in ski racing tradition, Vail: Like Nothing On Earth™, is celebrating Lindsey’s historic achievement with a special contest in her honor, “Lindsey Vonn: Like No One on Earth,” in which 63 lucky winners will receive a limited edition 2015-2016 Epic Pass and a chance to meet Lindsey in person at her home mountain of Vail.

“Lindsey Vonn: Like No One on Earth” Contest
Vail Resorts is looking to reward other women who demonstrate the same strength, commitment and drive as Lindsey and are champions in their own right. For one week only, guests are invited to share a 30-second video online that nominates a special girl (must be at least 13 years old) or woman in their life who – like Lindsey Vonn – is “like no one on earth,” giving it her all each and every day. Sixty-three winners will be selected to receive a limited edition 2015-2016 Lindsey Vonn Vail Resorts Epic Pass. Three of these epic women and a guest will also be personally selected by Lindsey Vonn to win a complimentary trip to Vail, Colo. in late March where they’ll have the opportunity to meet her. For more details or to enter today, visit www.vail.com/LV63. Follow #LV63 on social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or Instagram to connect with Lindsey’s achievement.

Vail Mountain has supported Vonn throughout her career and Vonn now represents all Vail Resorts’ world-class mountain resorts–Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone in Colorado; Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood in Lake Tahoe; and Park City and Canyons in Utah; and Vail Resorts’ two urban ski areas Afton Alps in Minnesota and Mt. Brighton in Michigan. She is also a member of the elite cadre of athletes that Vail Resorts officially sponsors through its Epic Pro Team program.

Vail Mountain also is immediately updating the “Lindsey’s” trail signs to commemorate her tremendous achievement in becoming the all-time women’s World Cup champion. The “Lindsey’s” trail is a black-diamond expert run renamed in her honor following her Olympic gold medal achievement in 2010.

About Lindsey Vonn
Lindsey Vonn is one of the few world-class, four-event ski racers. She is the only American woman to ever capture downhill gold at the Olympics and the only American woman with four World Cup overall titles. Six weeks after she turned 20, Vonn (then Kildow) produced her first World Cup victory in Lake Louise, Alberta. She has since captured a world record 63 World Cup wins to date. In addition to her 2010 Olympic downhill gold and super G bronze, she holds five World Championship medals, including double gold in 2009.

While she was born in Burnsville, Minn. in 1984, Vonn considers Vail her “hometown” as she and her family commuted to Vail for training for several years before finally moving there permanently in the late '90s to further her racing career. Lindsey spent her formative years on Vail Mountain, honing her racing skills in all alpine disciplines with Ski & Snowboard Club Vail, then went on to achieve success in major U.S. and international events such as the Junior Olympics, Junior Worlds, NorAms and Europa Cup before entering the International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup circuit. When she’s not rigorously training or garnering medals, Vonn makes her year-round training base and favorite place to unwind in Vail, Colo. www.lindseyvonn.com

She is also part of Vail Resorts’ Epic Pro Team, which allows the world’s best snow sports athletes to fine-tune their skills training at the best on-snow facilities, compete at their home resorts or simply enjoying the company’s mountain retreats and live the Vail Resorts mission of “Experience of a Lifetime” while enjoying an epic season at all 11 mountain resorts properties. www.epicteam.com
