Canyons Resort Celebrates the Holiday Season
New Holiday Festival December 12-21st

Park City, UT (December 10, 2014) – With the holidays quickly approaching, Canyons Resort announced a new 10-day holiday festival, aptly named Decemberfest, to celebrate the 2014 Holiday season with guests. Decemberfest begins December 12 with activities and events through December 21. Festivities include live music both morning and après times, the annual Santa Skis Free event and a brand new resort village lighting ceremony. All events are free and open to the public.

“This holiday season is a brilliant time of year for our guests and their families”, said Davy Ratchford, Director of Marketing, Canyons Resort and Park City Mountain Resort. “We are happy to be a part of the holiday celebrations with our new festival, and hope our bustling resort village and fun holiday events will bring joy to our guests during the most wonderful time of the year.”

Throughout the 10 days, Canyons Resort Village will be alive with live music from 9:00-11:00 a.m. each morning, family activities such as Meet the Avalanche Dogs, s’mores around fire pits at Umbrella Bar and the chance to meet Canyons’ mascot, Ripperroo. Highlights from Decemberfest include:

Resort Lighting Ceremony
For the first time, Canyons will transform the Resort Village into a holiday wonderland with a lighting ceremony on Saturday, December 13 at 5:00 p.m. Music, family entertainment, gingerbread cookie decorating, and s’mores round out the holiday celebrations.

Santa Skis Free
Santa Skis Free, Canyons’ most popular holiday event, returns on December 20. The first 50 guests dressed as Santa, Mrs. Clause or even his elves and reindeer will receive a free lift ticket for the day.

Alpenhorns
Traditional Swiss Horns will start the ski day from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20. Guests will have the opportunity to be transported to the Swiss Alps with the time-honored style of horns along Ski Beach.

Carolers
On Saturday December 20 and Sunday December 21, Canyons Resort Village will be filled with your favorite Christmas songs while Park City Treble Makers sing traditional carols during après time from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

While Decemberfest is chock full of things to do, the festivities don’t stop there. On December 24 and 25, guests may spot the jolly old man in red skiing at Canyons. Santa will be riding lifts and carving on the groomers during these two days and may have a treat or two for the kids. On December 31, Canyons will host the annual New Year’s Eve Celebration with live music by George T.Gregory Band, a torchlight parade down Doc’s Run along Ski Beach and the annual fireworks celebration.
