Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort Announce EpicPromise Grants
Total grants for 2014-15 exceeds $1,300,000 in grants and product donations
 
Park City – Nov. 24, 2014 – Friday, Vail Resorts announced more than $1,300,000 in EpicPromise community grants to be awarded to 30 non-profit organizations based in Summit and Wasatch counties. These grants support youth program and environmental initiatives that provide basic needs, connect kids with the outdoors, rehabilitate popular trails and increase educational opportunities for all kids.   

“EpicPromise connects our core value of “Do Good” with everyday actions to ensure a promising future for our communities and our mountains,” said Bill Rock, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Park City Mountain Resort. “Together with these non-profit partners, and our employees, we want to make sure we are working each day to preserve our landscapes and forests, while providing a bright future for local kids. These grants fund programs that help kids achieve great things in the classroom and develop a passion for the outdoors.”

Through EpicPromise, Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort are excited to partner with:
  • Alf Engen Ski Museum: event support
  • Canines for a Cause: EpicPromise Holiday Campaign partner
  • The Egyptian Theatre: Youtheatre program support and Pharaoh Club sponsor
  • El Nino ski program: 50 kids get access to skiing at Park City Mountain Resort
  • Friends of Utah Avalanche Forecast Center: Know Before You Go education program
  • Habitat for Humanity of Summit & Wasatch Counties: Overall Gala sponsor
  • Image Reborn: event support
  • Kimball Art Center: more than 6,500 students access the A.R.T.S. program
  • Leadership Park City: event support
  • Mountain Trails Foundation: trail rehabilitation
  • National Ability Center: program support and increased support for  youth and veteran programs
  • PandoLabs: STEM focused PCCAPS program
  • Park City Community Foundation: Live PC / Give PC and Women’s Fund Mentoring Program
  • Park City Education Foundation: preschool for low income families, Running with Ed sponsor
  • Park City Film Council: Books 2 Movies to increase interest in reading for local kids
  • Park City Food Pantry: Healthy Snacks in Backpacks program
  • Park City Institute: youth in the performing arts program
  • Park Silly Sunday Market: support to make market zero waste
  • Peace House: Prevention Education Program
  • People’s Health Clinic: vision program for underserved kids
  • Recycle Utah: education program
  • Summit Land Conservancy: Weber River Initiative and 2014 Conservation Breakfast
  • Summit Ski Team: in-kind support for scholarship program
  • Swaner EcoCenter and Preserve: 4th grade program
  • Synderville Basin Recreation: scholarships for low-income kids
  • Weilenmann School: event support
  • Winter Sports School: event support
  • Young Riders: Youth Biking Program
  • 4-H Club: auction to support scholarships for students
  • Youth Sport Alliance: scholarship program, Get out & Play and Jans Winter Welcome
Grants are a just one portion of the overall program. EpicPromise also includes the guest donation program that will raise money for Mountain Trails Foundation through a $1 opt-out program on season pass sales, online tickets, room nights and round of golf. And, this holiday season the Vail Resorts Retail’s EpicPromise Holiday Giving Campaign will raise money from customers, matched by Vail Resorts, for Park City’s Canines for a Cause. 

In addition to these programs, Vail Resorts is committed to connecting employees with the community. Over the past year, employees gave more than 20,000 hours of company sponsored time. In Park City, this included 1,000 to Mountain Trails Foundation to build the WOW trail, park rehabilitation for Habitat for Humanity, the Park City Education Foundation’s Running with Ed and the annual EpicPromise Day where more than 100 employees volunteered.
