- Northstar California Resort Delivers Real Snow from Lake Tahoe to the Museum
- Interactive Snow Play, Educational Exhibits and Winter Wonderland Fun Beckons Kids & Kids-at-Heart
Real Snow at the Museum
“The snow will be such a fun highlight during Snow Days,” said Kirt Zimmer, director of marketing for the Bay Area Discovery Museum. “For some of our younger guests, it may be their first chance to play in real snow; and for those who already enjoy snow play and skiing, it’ll be a fun experience and a way to get excited for winter.”
The inaugural event celebrates the onset of winter through a Winter Wonderland themed weekend of interactive educational opportunities, such as playing in real snow on the Museum’s grounds. Situated at Lake Tahoe, Northstar California Resort will present real snow upon which visitors can play, learn about how snow storms are formed and how the resort’s snowmaking system creates machine-made snow using state-of-the-art technology.
Winter Wonderland Activities
Special winter-themed activities and programs will literally transform the Museum into a winter wonderland – such as a train ride for kids through the Museum’s grounds and unique exhibits within its art studios.

About the Bay Area Discovery Museum
The Bay Area Discovery Museum is designed to ignite creative thinking in children. 7.5 acres of natural beauty inspires families to engage in a world of possibilities. Framed by the majestic backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Museum is a space for imaginations to run wild. Every curated detail of its exhibits brings creative thinking to life for all stages of childhood. Navigate winding tunnels to develop physical and intellectual risk-taking skills. Feel the rush of cold-water tide pools that surprise and awaken curiosity. Imagine new worlds by transforming into a spider, a ship captain or a bridge builder. At every turn is a new opportunity to challenge the boundaries of creativity.
Now the Museum is taking these experiences beyond its physical location. The Museum launched the Center for Childhood Creativity in 2011 to pioneer new research, though-leadership and teacher training programs that advance creative thinking in all children – extending its impact beyond the Museum.
The Bay Area Discover Museum’s mission is to ignite and advance creative thinking for all children.
