Breckenridge Ski Resort to Open Friday, Nov. 14
With fresh snow on the ground this morning, Breckenridge Ski Resort today announced the resort will open Friday, Nov 14 for 2014-15 winter ski season. A strong cold front has brought snow and much colder temperatures to Colorado and will allow the resort’s snowmaking team to work around the clock for Friday’s opening.
“With the return of winter temperatures, we are excited to move forward with another amazing ski and snowboard season at Breck,” said Breckenridge Vice President of Mountain Operations, Gary Shimanowitz.
OPENING DAY FESTIVITIES
The NEW Colorado SuperChair will start turning at 9 a.m., but guests are invited to get to Peak 8 early for opening day festivities. The first several hundred guests in attendance will be treated to some free treats, including handmade donuts from the Ski Hill Grill, Nature Valley Soft Baked Oatmeal Squares and other prizes courtesy of Breck’s official partners. EpicMix Photo will also be on site to commemorate Breck’s opening with FREE prints from their EpicMix Photo booth!
DJ DC will be spinning tunes from Red Bull’s specially made MXT DJ truck and there will be a special ribbon cutting of the newly upgraded Colorado SuperChair. The Colorado SuperChair has been upgraded from four-passenger express to a six-passenger express, providing a 30 percent increase in capacity for Peak 8’s primary and most utilized lift. Breck now has four six-passenger chairlifts across its five peaks and 2,908 acres to help better disperse skiers across its famed terrain.
Additional festivities will include a special tribute to honor United States service men and women in honor of this week’s Veterans Day, as well as local ski legend CJ Mueller, who recently was elected to the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame.
