Half Moon, A RockResort Rolls Out Exclusive Day Tours
Rose Hall, Jamaica (November 2014) – Just ahead of the upcoming winter tourist season, Half Moon, the luxury resort located Rose Hall, Jamaica,  is introducing two exclusive day tours that will give guests the opportunity to experience Jamaica.

The tours, which are in collaboration with established tour guide, Lynda Lee Burks, will take guests off the beaten path to the infamous Blue Mountain in the parish of St. Andrew and Stush in the Bush located in Bamboo, St. Ann.

The tour to the Blue Mountain will take place on a Wednesday and will see guests departing the resort at 7a.m. to catch a 30-minute flight from Montego Bay to Kingston. On arrival at the Norman Manley International airport in Kingston, guests will be transferred to Belcour Lodge, an elegant 18th century coffee estate set in a seven acres garden with bountiful fruit trees as well as an apiary. While here, guests will indulge in a brunch prepared by celebrated Jamaican cook Robin Lumsden and receive Lumsden’s famed recipe book before going on to tour the Blue Mountain.

Spanning over 7000 feet in height, the Blue Mountain is one of Jamaica’s most revered attractions. The ride will take guests as high as 4000 feet where they will make a stop at Newcastle, a historic site and now the training depot for the Jamaica Defense Force. The original 19th century building remains and guests will drive through the camp passing soldiers on the parade ground before heading to Clifton Mount, the oldest coffee estate in Jamaica. Here, travelers will learn about the coffee making process and explore the gardens before making a descent and stopping at the Old Tavern Estate, the only single full coffee estate in Jamaica where the beans are grown, processed, packed and marketed. This aspect of the tour will see guests indulging in freshly made coffee while observing the coffee production process.

Following this section of the tour, guests say goodbye to the parish of St. Andrew and then head to the former home and resting place of playwright Sir Noel Coward located in the parish of St. Mary. The excursion ends with cocktails and a tour of Firefly before journeying back the Half Moon by car. The cost for this tour is US$875 per couple, plus government tax. A minimum of four persons are required to do this tour.

The second tour, Stush in the Bush departs Half Moon on a Thursday to the parish of St. Ann, only one and a half hours from the resort. On this tour, guests will explore a 15-acre Zionites organic farm and enjoy meals prepared from farm vegetables grown from organic seeds. Freshly made preserves, sauces, dressings and breads are available.  The cost for this is $140 per person plus 15% government tax.

To book either of these tours, guests may contact the pre-arrival concierge at 800-339-9728 or email prearrivalconcierge@halfmoon.com
