Beaver Creek FOOD & WINE Weekend Features Food, Wine and Fun on the Slopes Jan. 23-26, 2014
Beaver Creek, Colorado (Jan. 13, 2014) –  The third annual Beaver Creek Food & Wine Weekend returns Jan. 23-26, 2014, featuring a four-day winter culinary celebration of food, wine and fun on the slopes. The chef talent for this year’s event includes Gavin KaysenTim LoveAlex SeidelNaomi Pomeroy and Fabio Viviani along with acclaimed local host chefs. Notable mixologist Alex Ott will serve artfully crafted cocktails at some of the events.Ski and food enthusiasts can select from a variety of events including interactive cooking demonstrations, innovative wine and spirits seminars, gourmet wine pairing dinners and countless hours on the slopes.
 
Beaver Creek’s FOOD & WINE weekend officially begins with the Meet the Chefs Reception, where food lovers mix and mingle with this year’s celebrity chefs while enjoying hors d’oeuvres prepared by local chef talent, sipping cocktail creations from Alex Ott and sampling other wine, spirit and beer libations. Avid skiers have time to tackle plenty of vertical and then wind down at Après-Tiki with guest chef Tim Love who will partner with Park Hyatt executive chef Christian Apetz for the ultimate Rocky Mountain luau on Friday or the Après-Ski Burgers and Beers featuring sliders and frosty beers on Saturday. Ski.Eat.Ski allows intermediate and advanced levels to explore the mountain with pros from Ski School followed by an indulgent gourmet lunch expertly prepared by guest chef Gavin Kaysen. Beer connoisseurs should attend the intimate Lunch and Learn where FOOD & WINE Best New Chef Naomi Pomeroy and Mirabelle owner and executive chef Daniel Joly will offer a cooking demonstration and food and beer parings.  
 
Friday evening’s exclusive dinners at Allie’s Cabin on the mountain and Splendido at the Chateau are hosted by local executive chefs and celebrity guest chefs who will dazzle guests with multi-course paired dinners.
 
The weekend culminates with the much-anticipated Celebrity Chef Ski Race & Brunch where chefs and their teams will compete head-to-head on the Haymeadow race course while raising money for charity. The winners will be celebrated during a post-race ceremony and brunch at the C-Bar. The race, capped at 10 teams, offers a limited number of start positions for the public and guests may register on a first-come, first-served basis for $75 per person which includes a special race access lift ticket, brunch and awards ceremony. The fastest team will win $500 which will be donated to the team captain’s designated charity. Proceeds from the weekend’s events also benefit the Bright Future Foundation.
 
Avid skiers and riders can garner plenty of time of the slopes and take advantage of afternoon après sessions and evening events, experiencing the best of all worlds.
 
Featured Chefs and Talent:
Gavin Kaysen: Executive chef of Café Boulud in New York.  His formal training includes serving as chef at San Diego’s Rancho Bernardo Inn and international experience at Auberge de Lavaux in Lausanne Switzerland and under Marco Pierre White at London’s L’Escargot. Enjoy his fare at the Allie’s Cabin dinner and Ski.Eat.Ski at Zach’s Cabin.
 
Tim Love: Chef/owner of Lonesome Dove Western Bistro, Woodshed Smokehouse, Love Shack, Queenie’s Steakhouse, a founding partner of the Austin FOOD & WINE Festival, and official chef of Austin City Limits. Love is known as much for his freewheeling personality as his signature urban western cuisine which will be on display at the Après-Tiki event and Grand Tasting.
 
Naomi Pomeroy: Chef of Beast in Portland, Oregon. Pomeroy is part of a select group of chefs appointed to the State Department’s Culinary Diplomacy Partnership Initiative, which explores worldwide diplomacy through culinary engagement. Her newest venture, Expatriate, is a cocktail bar featuring libations and snacks from foreign lands. Enjoy a front row seat and sample her favored dishes at the Lunch and Learn Beer Pairing at Mirabelle and Grand Tasting.
 
Alex Seidel: Chef and owner of Fruition Restaurant. He began his culinary career at age 14 in Wisconsin, and quickly moved from the line to sous chef of Main Street Bistro by age 20. Inspired by food at a young age, Seidel was recently recognized in 2010 as one of FOOD & WINE’s “Best New Chefs in America”.  See him at the Splendido dinner and Grand Tasting.
Fabio Viviani: Owner of Café Firenze and Firenze Osteria in California, Viviani is best known forhisappearanceonBravo’sTopChefin2008,earningthe“FanFavorite”title.Other appearancesinclude cooking segmentsonGoodMorningAmerica, TheTalk,TheChew,Ellen,GoodDayLA,and AccessHollywood. His formal training took place in Italy and the Mediterranean. Enjoy his multicourse lunch with paired wines at the Snowshoe & Gourmet Lunch and Grand Tasting.
Alex Ott: As a pioneer in the field of food and beverage science, Alex has developed a one-of-a-kind approach to cocktails, a non-hangover policy, and awakened the world to the effects and benefits of earth’s finest offerings. Alex flavored Mercy Hangover Prevention and just finished his final drink menu for the Refinery Hotel in NYC. Sample his creations at the Meet the Chefs Reception, Apres-Tiki, Grand Tasting and Sunday Funday Brunch.
 
Tickets & Packages
With great snowfall in Colorado this winter, food and wine lovers should book their Beaver Creek FOOD & WINE Weekend Package which features 30 percent off lodging and 20 percent off of event tickets. The package provides one ticket to each of the following events, subject to availability: Meet the Chefs Reception, Après-Tiki, Splendido dinner, Ski.Eat.Ski, Après Burgers & Beers and the Grand Tasting. A minimum three-night stay is required. Some restrictions may apply. Food & Wine event attendees must be 21 years of age or older.
