Beaver Creek’s Stone Creek Chutes to Open this Wednesday Following Recent Storm

Beaver Creek, Colo., Jan. 6, 2014— Beaver Creek Ski Patrol is set to drop the ropes and will open portions of Stone Creek Chutes on Wednesday, Jan. 8 thanks to continued great snowfall including the recent storm that blanketed the slopes this past weekend. With the opening of Stone Creek Chutes, skiers and riders will have access to 1,731 acres or 95 percent of the resort’s total terrain.

The designated “EX” or extreme in bounds terrain in Stone Creek Chutes includes 180 acres of fresh powder, steep chutes and gladed runs for expert skiers and snowboarders. The area features big adventure with unparalleled mountain views and complements the resort’s vast variety of terrain for all ability levels. Beaver Creek Ski Patrol worked over the past few weeks to prepare the terrain and will open all of Upper Stone Creek Chutes and most of Lower Stone Creek Chutes on Wednesday. Skiers and snowboarders are reminded to obey all area signage and closures. Sections of Lower Stone Creek Chutes will remain closed while patrol conducts additional work in that area.

Skiers and riders will find chutes ranging from 400-600 vertical feet with pitches up to 45 degrees in Stone Creek, as well as small to moderate cliff bands. The area can be accessed by riding the Cinch Express Lift (Chair 8) and the upper entry gate off of Red Buffalo will provide access to the open terrain.
