BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. — Dec. 25, 2013 – Blue skies, fresh snow and even Santa Claus greeted skiers and riders this Christmas Day at Breckenridge Ski Resort’s historic public opening of Peak 6 – the resort’s brand new expanded terrain and lifts. Peak 6 opened with over 200 acres of the 550 acre expansion, including the signature run Bliss, a high-alpine, intermediate bowl run – a rare find in North America.

Denver resident Ryan Chase and brothers Trevor and Riley Scannell from Littleton, CO were among the six guests who waited to get the coveted first chair at the noon opening of the Kensho SuperChair, a high-speed six person chairlift, topping out on Peak 6 at 12,300 ft.

The opening of Peak 6 represents one of the biggest and most notable ski area terrain expansions in North America in the past decade, and was the first at Breck since the Peak 7 expansion in 2002.

“Merry Christmas and welcome to Peak 6,” announced Pat Campbell, SVP & COO of Breckenridge Ski Resort at a ribbon cutting ceremony before the Kensho SuperChair officially started running. “This is an incredibly historic moment for Breckenridge Ski Resort … I know everyone here is going to love what they find up there.”

Continued terrain openings for Peak 6 and all five peaks of Breckenridge Ski Resort will be dependent upon weather conditions and snow coverage; guests can stay tuned to Breck’s social media outlets at www.Facebook.com/Breckenridge or follow the new @BreckConditions Twitter account for the most current terrain status updates.
