Eight Inches of Snow Falls at Vail and Blue Sky Basin is Open for the 2013-2014 Season in Time for Holidays
Vail Mountain, one of the largest ski resorts in the world, received eight inches of fresh powder today on the first official day of winter. With the opening of portions of Blue Sky Basin this week, skiers and snowboarders now have access to a total of 147 trails and more than 3,200 acres of terrain, just in time for the holidays.

In addition to 25 other chairlifts currently open on Vail’s front side and legendary Back Bowls, skiers and riders now also have access to the Skyline Express Lift (#37), Earl’s Express Lift (#38) and Pete’s Express Lift (#39).

“Blue Sky Basin is a part of what sets Vail apart from other resorts,” said Chris Jarnot, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Vail Mountain. “The great snow we’ve received over the past two days has allowed us to open it for our guests who will be in town for the holidays.”

The Bwana Terrain Park is also open for the season, offering more than 20 small and medium snow, box and rail features, including family cross course.

Adventure Ridge is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sundays and Mondays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guests can enjoy activities like snow tubing, kids snowmobiling, bungee trampolines, ski biking and Vail’s new zip line.
