Beaver Creek Opens for the 2013-2014 Season Wednesday, Nov. 27 with 486 Acres of Terrain Including Rose Bowl
Beaver Creek, Colo., Nov. 25, 2013 – Beaver Creek Resort will open on Wednesday, Nov. 27 with 486 acres of terrain accessed by seven lifts and seven surface lifts.  Skiing and riding terrain will be available on the main mountain, including Rose Bowl, as well as in Bachelor Gulch. Known for its legendary attention to detail, the Beaver Creek mountain operations crews capitalized on good natural snowfall and snowmaking conditions to offer resort guests one of the best opening days in recent history. In addition to the extensive public terrain, the resort was able to build two World Cup race courses for this week’s ladies’ Raptor World Cup races and next week’s men’s Birds of Prey World Cup event.
 
“This year Beaver Creek opens with a full schedule of exciting events, and our Thanksgiving holiday guests will enjoy beginner to expert skiing on a variety of trails on the main mountain as well as in Bachelor Gulch,” said Doug Lovell, chief operating officer for Beaver Creek Resort. “The amount of momentum we have with all of our events and great terrain is unprecedented and we’re thrilled to showcase Beaver Creek to the world.” 

Skiers and snowboarders will be able to access all levels of terrain on opening day beginning at 9 a.m. from the following lifts.

·         Rose Bowl Express Lift (#4)
·         Drink of Water Lift (#5)
·         Centennial Express Lift (#6)
·         Cinch Express Lift (#8)
·         Strawberry Park Express Lift (#12)
·         Bachelor Gulch Express Lift (#16)
·         Seven surface lifts

The Beaver Creek Ski & Snowboard School will be open on Wednesday offering group and private instruction for adults and kids. The Small World Play School Nursery will be open to care for non-skiing children. Guests can register online at www.beavercreek.com.

Spruce Saddle Restaurant at the top of Centennial Express Lift will offer hungry skiers and riders a variety of healthy lunch options including a salad bar station, soups, wraps, sushi and for hearty appetites, the new triple Epic Burger features three all beef patties, signature sauce, a toasted bun and all the fixings.

At promptly 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Beaver Creek’s much-anticipated10th annual Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition takes place in the village. Skiers and snowboarders will have the opportunity to sample five different cookies and vote for the resort’s Official Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe for the season. Five finalists will each bake and serve 1,000 cookies each for opening day and the winner will be announced immediately after the votes are tallied. Cookie Time is Beaver Creek’s signature guest service program. At 3 p.m. every day, Cookie Time Chefs greet skiers and snowboarders at the foot of the slopes with warm chocolate chip cookies. Nearly 500,000 cookies are served each season.

The inaugural Nature Valley Raptor Ladies’ World Cup takes place this week with Downhill Training Nov. 26-28.  The Downhill Race takes place Friday, Nov. 29 followed by Super-G on Saturday, Nov. 30. Giant Slalom rounds out the ladies’ events on Sunday, Dec. 1. In addition to the on hill racing action, Beaver Creek Village will host its traditional Holiday Tree Lighting Friday, Nov. 29, with live entertainment, an ice skating show and the Public Pick bib presentation for the ladies’ Giant Slalom.
