Keystone Resort Scheduled to Host Minnesota Ski Week
KEYSTONE, Colo. — Nov. 21, 2013— Keystone Resort is proud to announce Minnesota Ski week slated for Feb. 1-9, 2014 catering specifically towards guests venturing from the land of 10,000 lakes featuring lodging specials, a pond hockey tournament, a Minnesota celebrity and access to skiing/riding Keystone’s 3,148 acres of superb terrain. On top of re-imagining the guest experience with Minnesota Ski Week, the resort continues to enhance its family-centric programming by resuming the widely-acclaimed Kids Ski Free program that grants guests an unmatched deal throughout the entire winter season.

Keystone’s Kids Ski Free program works by allowing all children 12 years of age and under to ski and snowboard free every day, all season when staying two or more nights in one of Keystone’s many owned and operated accommodation options. Families big and small can take advantage of the offer, as there are no restrictions on the number of children per adult and no requirement of an adult lift ticket purchase. Guests not able to attend the Minnesota Ski Week festivities can still take advantage of the offer, as it even works over weekends and Holidays providing families one of the best deals in the ski industry.

In addition to Keystone’s unprecedented Kids Ski Free offer, the value continues for Minnesota families wanting to take an affordable winter ski vacation at a world-class Western resort. During Minnesota Ski Week, Keystone Resort presents a 50% off lodging deal when staying four or more nights in one of Keystone’s numerous lodging options, ranging from luxury hotel rooms to cozy skin-in/ski-out condominiums. Enhancements to the value oriented offer include free night ski on day of arrival, free ice skating admission and 20% off skate rentals, free Kidtopia events and, of course, the resort’s signature Kids Ski Free deal.

Continuing with the theme of creating a special week for Keystone’s Minnesota guests, the resort presents Blades and Bluegrass Pond Hockey Tournament Wednesday, Feb. 5-Thursday, Feb. 6. Located in Lakeside Village on Keystone’s five-acre lake (the largest zamboni-maintained lake in North America), the tournament will include more than 500 hockey team participants, bluegrass music and a hockey shoot-out with the winner taking home top-notch prizing. Minnesota winter sports enthusiasts can grab a hot-chocolate from the Adventure Center and walk outside to watch teams duke it out on the rink from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. both days or sign-up to participate in the shoot-out and/or tournament.

Moving into Friday, Feb. 7, which marks the first day of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games, Keystone Resort is hosting an Opening Ceremonies Viewing Party with 1980 Miracle on Ice hockey team member and Minnesota native Dave Christian. Taking place in Warren Station Center for the Arts in the heart of River Run Village, celebrations will begin with Christian signing autographs as well as speaking to the crowd about his own Olympic experience. Evening festivities will also include food and drinks specials and a lively atmosphere ready to cheer on Team USA as the Sochi Winter Olympics officially begin.

For Minnesota families that cannot attend during the Feb. 1-9 dates, Keystone Resort maintains adventurous happenings for the whole family throughout the entire ski/ride season even over the Holidays.

Holiday activities will kick-off Nov. 30 with Keystone’s Tree Lighting Ceremony in the heart of River Run Village. The evening celebration will also include carolers, an appearance by Santa and his reindeer followed by the Welcome Winter Family Carnival. Continuing with more merriment throughout the Holiday season, families will enjoy parades, fireworks, ice skating parties and all of Keystone’s festive daily activities, including the mountaintop tubing hill, Kidtopia Snowfort, two ice-skating rinks, snowshoeing and more. The big man himself, Santa Claus, will even make a quick pit-stop for a special Holiday breakfast Dec. 24, before he sets off on his busy night of gift-giving.

As if the Minnesota Ski Week and Holiday adventures were not enough, Keystone is home to 3,148 acres of skiable terrain accessed via 20 chairlifts including two gondolas. The mountain layout consists of three magnificent peaks great for progression and learning how to ski or ride or for enjoying a first-time trip to a Western resort. Between the Discovery and Ranger Learning Areas, four children’s adventure trails, Schoolmarm (the meandering green run 3.5 miles in length), many intermediate blue runs, long black groomed runs such as Star Fire and wide-open bowl skiing/riding, the resort is perfect for honing skills in an un-intimidating atmosphere.

Continuing with keeping value in mind, Keystone also offers an array of season pass options that provide highly-discounted rates for families looking to take a vacation out West. The Epic Local Pass™ grants unlimited, unrestricted skiing or riding at Keystone, Breckenridge, Afton Alps, Mt. Brighton and Arapahoe Basin with limited restrictions at Canyons, Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood for only $569. The pass also includes a total of 10 days at Vail and Beaver Creek with Holiday restrictions. Arguably one of the best deals in the ski industry, Minnesota skiers and riders can purchase their Epic Local Pass™ that not only works at Afton Alps, MN, but permits unlimited skiing and riding at Keystone Resort all season long. Lock-in now, because season pass deadlines end Nov. 24. Visit http://www.snow.com/epic-pass.aspx for a full line-up of season pass options.
